Me. (Someone asked how many agree with the original poster.) Just tossing my vote in. Since when has the majority ever been the standard of what is right? The majority of Germans voted for Hitler. The majority supported Chairman Mao until that whole messy cultural revolution thing killed off tens of millions of Chinese. The majority went along with Stalin, mostly because they didn't want to freeze to death breaking rocks in Siberia.

Isn't the whole premise of progressive socialism that the "masses" are too stupid to manage their own affairs and need to be "handled" by an elite corps of very smart central planners? Since when has that ever worked out well?

The beauty of how humans are designed is that they are amazingly adaptable and creative and given the inspiration to do so, figure out how to handle their own affairs rather well. It is a dangerous thing to take away all responsibility for their own welfare from human beings. They revert to a childlike state and you know what little monsters children can be - whining, complaining and setting fire to things.

Individualism versus collectivism? I go with individualism every time. The SETI@home project is a prime example of how people with an idea can come up with very creative and effective solutions for problems. Can you imagine what a mess SETI would have been as a government-planned project.

Far better for the government to throw money at you later and shout, "Wait for me, I'm your leader."

Mark's story about Detroit is 99% on target.

I'm going to write about a stupid union move going on now in LA for teachers, to show how corrupt unions are.

The school board has allocated a block of funds for teaching positions. They proposed a raise. The union wants no part of giving out a raise. {think about that for a second) The union wants that money spent on more teachers rather than a raise. Can any of you figure out why? Bet not.

The union gets a fixed dollar amount from each member. So if they don't get more members the union boss can't take home a bigger salary. Simple greed.

So think about that next time you see a crew of ten guys standing around leaning on shovels and only one guy digging. How many of them are there because union rules say a worker can only do one function. Now you know the reason for that union rule, and the downfall of any shop that gets unionized.

Detroit unions is the downfall of that city. Don't worry Barry Obama will bring home the bacon for them, unions gave him the election and he will have to pay them back for that.

Never say 'whoa' to a man under a full head of steam who happens to be correct in what he says.

Chris, I like you, but don't ever please be condescending to me.

The main part of my true story about Detroit and the UAW was just that....
It was true. Anybody can do a lot of research and define just who did what and when and where.
I am not talking out of church here. This is well defined and documented history. Not my simple opinions.

The UAW raped the big 3 for every freaking dime they could squeek out of them whilst they could. Never caring about the outcome. It is what most union bosses tell them to do.

Never mind bleeding your host to death. As most union bosses tell them to do.

If the UAW had only watched the death knell coming and told their members to back off or their host would die.........
It might have been different for Detroit. Quite different. Detroit might still to this day be a thriving city. No reason it could not be.

I may be callous, but Detroit and most of it's citizens deserve everything their greed got them. Now they are trying to claim bankruptcy, and again get some more of our federal funds to get yet another f$$$ing bailout.

I guess the only way to fix this is for the kittyman to run for pres next time 'round.
Only for the fact that I would not live long enough to be elected. Shades of JFK, who barely did.

I am a Union member. I have worked out of many shops. I have also worked out of many shops that are not unionized.

I see benefit of both. We have the right to assemble, given in our Constitution. There is one thing no one has the right to do and that is to kill the Golden Goose that laid the Golden Egg. On the other hand, the owner has no right to be Mr. Scrooge.

Like anything there is a balance to be struck. Honesty and semi-open books go a long way....

Perhaps in the UK (and certainly in France) -- in the US, to a large degree, over the decades since the Reagan revolution, that has been done. This is one of the components of the stagnation of the economy and the concentration of wealth at the very top.

Modern trade Unions have become far too powerful and need to be reined in. They even dictate Labour party politics in the UK for heavens sake. High time it was put a stop to.

Although having said that, perhaps "shouldn't have the short sightedness" might be better than right.

Hong Kong mocks the U.S. again for being so stupid.

When did Hong Kong become part of Taiwan?
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

You have to have been here to believe this........

I just got busted.

There are so many things I could say here.

But I cannot. There are legal things........I have been warned.
I told them that it was just personal experience.

It was a Sandy West suit, I think.

I was viewing Sandy West and Joan Jett sites for a few hours.,
I was led to believe that Sandy West (ex Joan Jett/ aka Runaways drummer) died of lung cancer. I am beginning to wonder if something else was not involved. I shall investigate further.

I blew them off.

Now that I think about it, maybe i should have looked into it further.

I mean why? I suppose it was just because my email came up on an NSA search of Sandy West inguiries. She died of lung cancer. There were no more smoking guns.
Why do I suddenly have a GMAN at my door?

This guy literally stinks of gman. And he is poking his arse in my front door.

This astounds me, so I ask him WTF he is doing.........

Oh, we noticed you have been around a few websites we feel are susspicious, and we know you have a lot of computer activity, soooooooooooooo

Soooooooo, they check my arse out.

Can you imagine that???

They bared into my living room and demanded to see what my computers were doing.

'Now, dude, that's not password cracking, it it??'
No, f. Just what the F do you want? What the F are you looking for.
Get the F out of my house without a warrant, you sorry mf...........

I would not have been visited if I was simply doing Seti.
I have done that for 10 years or more.

Something else was at play.

I have a clue.

Sandy West........

Maybe she did not die of cancer.
Maybe there was something else.

Did she have some unusual politics?

Who did she vote for?

The problem is..........

I don't know who attacked me.

Had to be NSA or such.

They were just too quick in and out.
Simple thugs, not so.

And they took NOTHING.
They were looking for SOMETHING.
Which, they of course, did not find.

They are now monitoring these emails to find out what they lost.

Fact is, asswholes..........
There is nothing you want here.

You got your dick up the wrong pipe, mates.
You done tossed the wrong bunghole.

I really hope you are reading this, because I am about to sue your sorry arsses.

I cannot contribute to this conversation anymore.
Too many just heap ridicule upon me for trying.
Our leader in chief is a thief, a scoundrel, and a liar.\
Not too many nations in the world have that claim to fame.

If you do not agree with me, I stand accused.

But, I still stand against you.
