I believe Richard Haselgrove wrote the installer. ICBW.

I thought it was a team effort between Richard and William. Or maybe William wrote the READ ME and other instructions. Whatever, they all worked hard to get this done, and all desrve a pat on the back and a cold beer or beverage of their choice...

RE: RAC -

I'm running totally stock, no GPUs installed.

Before the move to the CoLo, my total RAC was around 850 with two ancient Mac G4s/OSX 10.4.11, and two P4HT/WinXP boxes running 2 tasks at a time. Shorty storms would run my RAC up to 975-1050, mostly due to the P4s. After the move to the CoLo, due to rising summer temps (90-100F), I cut my P4s back to 1 task each, and my RAC dropped, but had not stabilized when v7 rolled out. I had 2-3 days worth of v6 on each box, so it took that long to begin crunching v7 MB on all boxes. Looks like total RAC is going to stabilize at about 700-750.

MB Runtimes on the P4s are about the same for v7 as for v6: 1.5-2 hours for a shorty, 7-8 hours for a mid-range, 9 for a VLAR. YMMV.

You're absolutely right.
Reading through William's and Richard's posts it's obviously a Lunatic effort spanning 3 continents.
I hate to think how much time the optimizers spend in coding the apps.

Dam it bloody Einstein gotta wait till those units have finished on both machines before I can redo Lunatics on the server which the Rac for seti is falling fast and the backup well I have yet to try that one . That's what I get for stuffing around , downloaded to many units for GPU and now i'm stuck with to may as it will only do 2 not 3 which I had it set to do then changed it to 2 but did not realise how the settings actually worked for Einstein grrrrrrrrrrrr

Well, the kitties' RAC is still plummeting like Wiley Coyote after he chases the Roadrunner off of a cliff.

Even after I took advantage of the wonderful new Lunatics installer this morning and increased production by a fair amount, as indicated by the increased power consumption witnessed on the Killawatt meters on 4 of my rigs.

The kitties have no worries though, 'cuz you're all takin' the same ride with me...LOL.

I haven't run a whole lot of SETI for awhile, but the credits on these new v7 WUs seem to be off by a factor of 100. 80 credits for 3 hours of GPU work? That's completely unacceptable.

Hmmmmmmmmmm....
Am I hoping beyond hope, or might an adjustment to credits have been made?
My RAC has gone back up just a wee bit since the outage.

Or maybe it's just several hours of work done during the outage being reported all at once.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...

Earlier in this thread, someone said that as we started getting results from a lot of the older/slower machines, the Credits would stabilize at reasonable levels.

When running MB v6, a mid-range AR task would give me anywhere from 85-120 credits, depending on who/what I was paired with. If my winger was an older CPU, it would be closer to 120, if a newer CPU or a GPU, it would be closer to 90-100. Similar AR range v7 tasks seem to be running at the lower end of that range - 70-100. Similar results with Astropulse - between 700 and 850, depending on the wingman and the amount of blanking.

Yes, the hypothesis was that things would self-correct as the slower rigs came about.
I am just curious if a bit of manual tweaking might have been done during the outage.

Even though I'm only doing AP, my RAC is falling badly (for some reason, AP is being affected too).

I have this funny feeling in my stomach, that you get when riding a roller coaster. We're going down, down, down..

But you know the feeling. It's kind of fun too :-)

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....
Looks like my RAC has resorted to it's decline again too.

Probably less & less v6 work being done & more & more v7. So the random credit generator is becoming more random than usual.

There's still some kind of AP bug going around affecting random tasks. I received a couple more. The most recent was a 'reward' of 12.1 for just under 2 Hours AP work. It has since been upped to 179.83 which is still less than a third of what it should be;

Me thinks the Credit Generator is about to have a Breakdown, if it hasn't already. BTW There Is NO v7 Astropulse. Astropulse v6 was basically unchanged, show me a v7 AP.

My guesstimation is we all will be soon getting 80 points for something that use to pull 600+. Not good. There weren't any changes to Astropulse, r1316 still works perfectly fine. Looks like a major malfunction to me.

My daily RAC has gone from the mid 80,000s to mid 30,000s and today's new low of 25,800.

Even with the other comments, it sure feels like I've done something wrong. It isn't freefall, more like I've strayed too close to a blackhole.

Sten, I am sending more AP your way. I have stopped crunching AP for the moment due to the apparent low credit rates being received. In one instance, 5 hours of crunching for 89 credits. Hope you do better.

cheers from Oz.

Well even though the credits have plummeted my 2 recently upgraded rigs are still climbing the RAC ladder with my Q6600 now up to 72nd and my 2500K up to 94th (78th & 104th prior to change) so it isn't all that bad from my POV.

Cheers.
