Maybe I didn’t saw it in here. Check the "v7 roll-out" thread. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Maybe I didn’t saw it in here. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71728&postid=1373498#1373498 to be precise - app_config.xml, goes into project directory, activate by 'read config file', boinc 7.0.64 required. That's right, V7 includes autocorrelation processing, so is a replacement. I just downloaded the x41zc_Win32_cuda23 package from arkayns' site. I'll be giving it a go shortly... |

Looks like the Server Status page is now showing v7 data. Ready to send at 350k, only 600k out in field, etc. on the 17:00 UTC update. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

Thanks for the assistance. I removed app_config.xml and I do see v7 WUs downloading now, but it looks like not all of the v7 code will download (invalid host name) so nothing is running, although I do now have lots of v7 WUs waiting. I have just asked about that again in my v7 rollout thread. No answers to the problem yet. I don't yet know where can't resolve host name is coming from. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Thanks for the assistance. I removed app_config.xml and I do see v7 WUs downloading now, but it looks like not all of the v7 code will download (invalid host name) so nothing is running, although I do now have lots of v7 WUs waiting. We believe Eric is using coral cache to distribute the apps. Some people seem to have problems with that. Richard was going to look into alternate downloads but is currently working his a** off to get the installer done till Monday. A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. Well, the kitties would rather have both yourself and Richard spend your time on the installer than working on a quick fix right now. Hope it goes well. Contacted Eric, and he is turning Coral Cache off on one of the download servers in an attempt to help clear the situation.... Meow. Well I'll give it a try again. OK IT WORKED THIS TIME after again hanging at the fft library for one retry period. First time It downloaded 100 tasks on the initial download everything downloaded ok till I got to the last two tasks and the fft library. fft library was in retry. Aborted the last two tasks as they would not go into retry Retried the fft library about 100 times before trying to abort it. DNS prob Man that was a Bigtime mistake!!! All my 100 tasks went into failed status, then tried an update and all the new 100 were failed immediately. This is on my AMD/ATI system I had confidence as I first did my Intel Nvidia system and it went thru perfectly. Cleared everything and will try now that CoralCrud is disabled. |

Eric has said somewhere that the problem with the download of the apps is something to do with the choice of cache on one of the download servers. He's been trying to resolve it, but until that is fixed some of us will be suffering poor downloading of the applications. (I'm glad this mass update is a "once a blue moon" event.) That's right, V7 includes autocorrelation processing, so is a replacement. I swapped out Lunatics_x41g_win32_cuda32.exe with Lunatics_x41zc_win32_cuda23.exe. I also found the old app I had used weeks ago lurking in the oldApp_backup folder, it was Lunatics_x41zb_win32_cuda32.exe. I still have an hour to go on the current AP, then we'll see how x41zc_win32_cuda23 preforms. 5/30/2013 10:20:23 AM | SETI@home | Started download of libfftw3f-3-3_upx.dll When you run into this problem, there's a real easy way around it. Download them through your browser. No need to stop BOINC, just let it try and retry. In your browser URL path fill in http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setiathome_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe and hit Enter. Save the file to the Setiathome directory in your BOINC Data directory e.g. c:\programdata\boinc\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\ Next download http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe and do the same as above. Last get http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/libfftw3f-3-3_upx.dll and save that to the directory. Next open BOINC Manager->Transfer tab->select the applications and the .dll file and click Retry Now. BOINC will instantly recognize that the files are in already and not try to download them any further. |

After finally getting all of the v7 code downloaded, the scheduler shot off a big request for 99 new tasks "for CPU and NVIDIA". Unfortunately, the scheduler only loaded one CUDA task (SETI@home v7 v7.00 (cuda42)) and 98 SETI@Home v7 7.00) tasks. I have three NVIDIA GPUs, yet only one GPU gets a single task (which it crunched in very short order) and the other two are totally latent. After the single CUDA task completed, all three GPUs are now dead in the water-- while the CPUs slowly grind away on 98 tasks. Doesn't the scheduler appear to be a bit "unbalanced", or is something mis-configured? "History is a pack of lies about events that never happened told by people who weren't there." - Santayana |

In the mean time, the tasks I did with v7 as anonymous platform are all branded validation inconclusive. But then, seeing this guy, or this guy, I don't seem to be the only one having that problem. I've removed the anonymous platform and am now crunching default v7, all 2 hour plus tasks. |
