Your BOINC client should automatically download it in the next few days. No need to abort any current work you are doing.

We've released versions for Windows, MacOS and Linux, and four versions for NVIDIA graphics cards running under windows, and versions for ATI graphics card running under Windows and Linux.

My thanks to the KWSN/lunatics folks for getting this done and especially to Raistmer, Jason, Josef, Urs, Claggy, Mike, Richard, and too many beta testers to name.

Tomorrow I'll post explaining why we wanted version 7 and what's different about the analysis it does.

YEAH!

And it does work, with about 1000 done on my boxes for Beta.

Good job and thanks.

From my post in number crunching:
My recommendation (Subject to change after I try it) would be:
- Set No New tasks
- Wait until tasks all complete, upload & report
- delete app_info.xml from the project directory
- reset the project
- Allow New tasks

Extra notes: Probably need to check web options too in there somewhere [OK :)]. I'd try let the server decide amongst the compatible versions over some time with one instance per GPU (underutilised due to memory intensive Autocorrelations) then worry about multi instances after things settle in. You'd likely want either newer Recommended Boinc for that, or wait for installer for older Boinc clients to run with app_info (anonymous platform)

You'll need to ensure the web preference for V7 is ticked as well, which I gather it probably is.

I'll try this way after all previous tasks are complete

Will those of us with Kepler class NVIDIA cards (ie GTX-670) need to delete the environmental variable changes we made (CUDA_GRID_SIZE_COMPAT)to accommodate the GPU problems in 6.10 CUDA ?

No, it will not affect anything with the new apps. I have been running the x41zc apps with the variable set for about 5 months now.

A new app_info will have to either be created by hand or wait until next Monday or so for the new installer.

You will be running stock apps until the new installer is ready.

GG Guys !
Thanks to all the beta testers of the project who spend so much time to reference the problems so that we took advantage only of solutions ! :)
Thanks Eric for the heads-up.

AVG flagged it as a virus. How safe is it? Was a virus accidentally uploaded?

Hi,
When instaling v. 7 my antivirus (AVG) detects heuristic viruses, how should I react. Is this a false alert ?

Just for clarification, those of us running Kepler cards will still need to change the environmental variable for v7 if we have not previously done so? I never put my Kepler cards onto SETI when I saw that it required changing that variable as I did not know what it actually did on a system level.

Additionally, will we be able to use current Nvidia drivers? My Keplers aren't on a dedicated crunching rig, so I'd like to keep them up to date with the most current drivers.

Thanks.

One of my P4 HT boxes came with AVG installed. It flagged some of the V7 downloads as Virus Threat and blocked the downloads. Seti@Home is a trusted site - I have never gotten a virus from Seti@Home, so I clicked "Ignore Threat". When the AVG window closed, I hit the "Retry Now" button and the downloads went through as fast as ever. So far, no problems on that box....
