And there is no official release date.

Trust me.

All hell is gonna break loose.

So, save the grief in the panic mode thread. Please keep posts to a minimum, or the thread will have to be reinstated every couple of days.

It's gonna be a wild ride, and things are gonna be rough for months afterward, I suspect. Piling on in the panic mode thread is not going to either change or get them to change.

Just be advised.

I am prepared to take a big hit myself in production until I can figger things out. You best be prepared as well.

It's gonna be up to those of us who have somewhat of a clue to try to damp down the havoc.

Hah! that's so much better than my GPUUG advisory.

LOL, Jason.
I don't cherish this big bash.

I want some big advisories on the home page and a finite date of rollout.

This is far too big a thing to just say......
Well, folks, here ya go...........

There goes the cat...

Better the cat get out of the bag than the cat rip everything to shreds.
As I said in my team post.....and you best support me on this.

There has been no official documentation or mention of a v7 release date.

I would prefer a date specified, and then instructions on the home page as to how to deal with it.

You are somehow inferring that I should have not given others a nods up??

I do cherish my inside info given my status in some forums and threads, but this is just too big and intimidating for most to not address beforehand.

try this

Anybody on stock doesn't need to do anything, why should there be instructions? An estimated 99.9% of rigs (ok I may be exaggerating) run stock and never look at the forum.

Anybody on optimised can panic for about a week. We are doing all we can on the 0.41 installer but may I remind you that Rome wasn't built in a day?
Not to mention that my time is limited.

It's only as big and initimidating as you make it, there's no reason at all to panic (unless you are installer crew, in which case panic away).

Rome was not built in a day.
And neither were the kitty kibbles.

I won't panic.....LOL..
Not much.

Luv you lots.

Just keep the cake eaters informed.
That's all..

A short rollout after all the talk is NOT a good thing.

I do have an inside with Eric from time to time.
No news from him about this.

True enough.

I just had some tidbits that indicated it might be sooner rather than later. I might be wrong......it might still be months hence.

The best laid plans of mice an men...

The _plan_ is for V7 to roll out (next) Wednesday.
The _plan_ is for the installer to follow the Monday after.

As we all know plans have a tendency to go horribly wrong and Murphy must be livid that I managed to reverse invoke him by starting development of V6 stock aistubs, so he'll be waiting for his chance at revenge.
Oh wait, I think he's already having his revenge and gave me some pretty foul medicine for my vanity.

The plan for this evening is to get plastered. I don't think Murphy will get in the way of that.

It's been a long time since I edited an aistube.

There was a lawsuit about his ability to rear children afterwards.

I'm running Windows XP with BOINC 7.0.64. What would I have to change in this App_Info come next week?

Just set NNT, remove the app_info, reset the project, restart Boinc, unset NNT, the apps the project will supply will be newer than what you're already running, then wait for the following Monday.

Ask us next week, please. On current timings, you Americans may be able to answer that question on Wednesday night: we Europeans probably won't be able to until our Thursday morning (while you sleep).

We all will need to know application names, version numbers and plan_classes before anybody changes anything. In any event, you will be adding new sections to handle the new v7 - don't delete anything yet.

In spite of me saying that, lots of people will inevitably be fiddling with things and trashing their caches - lots of v6 resends for a while yet, while the rest of us learn how to do it properly.
