Message 1373200 - Posted: 30 May 2013, 0:34:37 UTC - in response to Message 1373193.

Probabily an "stupid" question, what i need to do to start crunching V7, i´m running CPU (Intel)/GPU x41zc apps. Anyone have a simple receipt? Thanks.

My recommendation (Subject to change after I try it) would be:
- Set No New tasks
- Wait until tasks all complete, upload & report
- delete app_info.xml from the project directory
- reset the project
- Allow New tasks

Extra notes: Probably need to check web options too in there somewhere [OK :)]. I'd try let the server decide amongst the compatible versions over some time with one instance per GPU (underutilised due to memory intensive Autocorrelations) then worry about multi instances after things settle in. You'd likely want either newer Recommended Boinc for that, or wait for installer for older Boinc clients to run with app_info (anonymous platform)

This works just fine as I got a load of stock CUDA42 work, I did have to make a few changes so I could run them full out instead of normal speed.

Haha, now for multiple instances, I'm going to have to either modify newer Boinc with adaptive flops/aDCF-equivalent, or backport app_config.xml support into modded 6.10.58. *sigh*

I have about 20 v7 7.03 WU's right now. (opencl_ati5_cat132). I guess it is rollin' out!

Seeing as I am already running 7.1.1, I already have app_config support on my machine.

Now my other machine is up and running v7 as well.

Now my 670 and 660 have both CUDA42 and CUDA50 to work on.

The 650 Ti still only has CUDA42.

OK...
Tried a test on my daily driver.
Renamed app_info.xml to app_info.sav to save it but inactivate it.
Reset the project.
Restarted Boinc.
Got some downloads...
Now the thing is hung up trying to download the app and related files.

Whazzup?

In addition, all the WUs show their status as downloading, although they have downloaded and are no longer in the transfers tab.

Whazzup?

Can't resolve host name indicates a DNS type problem.
Have you got a hosts file? Any entries affecting Seti servers other than the download server?

I have no hosts file as far as I know, have never manually set one up.
And what's odd is that most of the files are now showing a percentage downloaded, but the next time they try again, the can't resolve host name comes up again.

That takes that out of the equation.

Hopefully they'll all be downloaded before you need to figure out just what is going on.

I am now thinking the cannot resolve host name may be a bogus message.
It could be that there are just so many hosts trying to download the new files that the server is having a hard time responding to the requests.

I now only have two of those files left to download, even though they are still getting that message.

EDIT...
Got them all now.

I found the first host getting ATI V7 work with unsupported drivers.
He is running Cat 11.11 SDK 2.5 while SDK 2.6 is required.

Is it possible to download the new optimized apps somewhere without the installer, i.e. just a zip file with all needed files inside, like it was possible before? Some of us don't need installers, that do more than it's actually needed...

Just tried it myself- All of the files i need to process the work go into download backoff as soon as i try to download them.

EDIT- and unlike msatler, not a single bit is downloading no matter how many times i hit Retry.

Sure... but only for GPU apps. CUDA on Jason's site, OpenCL on Lunatics. All as separate packs.

I need CPU apps, no CUDA or OpenCL capable GPUs here. I wonder why they stopped distributing the CPU apps as separate packs, that was so much better (for some of us).

I have just moved all my boxes to v7. Didn't take that long.

Curious thing is:
the first box is dual GTX580s and it received v7 cuda42 WUs, later a few 32s and then some 50s;
the second box is dual GTX295s and it received v7 cuda50 WUs, and later on 5 cuda22s;
the third box is dual GTX580s and it received v7 cuda 32 WUs.

All are running 1 WU per GPU at present.

However, is there a way to stop cuda50 WUs landing on the GTX295s. They appear to be taking an age to process.

How?
I've followed Jason's instructions, and everything was working till it came time to download the new stock files.
