I don't know if you want to consider this or if you care about it at all but...

Depending on your case, of course, the bottom card can *easily* run on air. That would save the cost of water-cooling that card. I have three systems with three GPUs in them, all on air-only. I would have four cards in two of them but I can't adequately cool four on air and don't want to spend the money for water-cooling.

In two of the three cases, there are bottom case fans blowing upward. I have to increase the fan-speed on the "middle" card as far as it will go. The top cards I usually increase the speeds some (even a lot) but not 100% or 80% (the max in some instances).

The bottom cards are cool... very cool... usually with their fans on "auto" and at the same temps as the middle and upper cards, we're talking 40% fan-speed.

Just a thought.

(BTW - I am talking about squirrel-cage fan models with "closed" shrouds exhausting most of the heat from the rear of the case in two of the systems. One has an "open shroud" on the bottom card.)

I'm not suggesting anything, or recommending anything, and I have no opinion about what you do with your system. I'm just reporting.

Be careful walking around then mate sorry to hear ya got a prob with ya heel ouchy .
Would you still be able to use the water cooling with the other bracket ? and the wireless card !

you didn't do what I did the other night tried to dance with a coffee table and fall over giving myself one hell of a shiner .....hehehehehelololo only joking
To much beer make me unstable on my feet lolololo

Thanks, roger wilco.

The single slot bracket, yes, the stock dual slot bracket, yes, both will work with water cooling, but the wireless will only work with the single slot bracket.

The worst is I lose one gpu, 14 wu's for 7 gpus vs 16 wu's for 8 gpus, not enough to worry about. Dual gpu boards for some reason like to run only 2 wu's per nvidia gpu, 3 they'll do, but at a cost, if I could make the 580 the main gpu then it would be 21 wu's for 7 gpus vs 24 wu's for 8 gpus, still not a lot to worry about, I'll still need two psus no matter what a Coolmax 1600w psu and a Silverstone ST1000-P 1000w 80A 160mm deep secondary psu, right now it's acquire what is harder to get, the video cards, next up a GTX580, then a 590 and then last a 690, Koolance I've recently read gets the best temp out of the cards and is the most compatible across different dual gpu cards too(690 vs 590), as to the 480 block, it'll probably be up to short 1/2" barbs and some i/2"ID tubing, though I will try the more rigid Koolance stuff first. I'd thought about putting in 5 580/570 cards, but that is a fair amount of cost for just the blocks(5 cards-> $2,075 vs 3 cards-> $1,745 or $330 difference in possible projected cost), which could go towards just buying cards and 1 block, so that's what I did, once I get the 580 and equip the card with a 480 block I'll have half of the cards bought, after the 690 though I'll need to buy 2 more 580 or 570 cards for this PC, I'm hoping to avoid the 480 cards, cheap to buy, but possibly more expensive to run.

Be glad the table wasn't made of glass, a shiner is badenov...

Ok VBobier I understand those naughty kitty's .Pain in the bum now all the good gpu cards take 2 slots makes it difficult to us other devices looks you got not no choice if you want to use wireless and all the gpu's you might just have to bite the bullet and get the pcie version or 1 less gpu or use a usb but with a cat in the place probably knock it or bend it in the usb port and you'll still have to go buy a pcie version .

good luck what ever you do

Thanks, right now it's a pain in the heel that I have, literally, I've read I have to stay off of it as much as possible or at least wear shoes and use My cane to support My right side when I walk. There is a part that allows for the 480-580 type cards to use up only a single slot, like the one below.

Ok I paid for the Koolance 480 block, plus for some screws as this 480 block and the 690 block didn't come with any. From what I can see, it looks like the 480 block should fit on a 580 reference card, a reference card is a card designed by Nvidia. Next I will have to get a GTX 580 card, either next month or the month after that. If one wants to know what a reference card is, head over to the cooling configurator website that's owned by EK, here's the link.

VBobier why bother with the wireless card . A wireless router or just use a cable to your router if you got one. I find wireless is crap G doesn't have much range 10 meters appox if that, and sounds to me if you do use a router you will have to have it reasonably close to it signal drops below approx. 65% and it slows down and starts to drop out . My nabour is using my router and he is appox 8 meters away only get 2 bars if he's lucky and drops out .

ps nice board

check that it says 100meters range mmmmmmmmmmm on spec sheet what gotta be b/s

Well G is 54Mbps, 'Super G' is 108Mbps and that's what I have(108G=54G+54G, as two 54G signals are bonded together) and I find 54G is ok, but I like 108G better, there is a reason for wireless, a cats sharp teeth, I have a Netgear 'Super G' RangeMax router and cards, 20' away I found and the signal still good at 4 bars, sometimes 5 bars. 100 meters, hmm 328' is longer than this mobile home is(60'x14'), so I'm not worried, this is for a desktop, not a laptop and so distance isn't something I'm worried about.

Yes, it is, thank you and I just won a Koolance GTX480 waterblock, which I think might fit on a reference GTX580 card, now I have to go and pay for it. Or at least make breakfast and wait until about 9:45am.

Ok I'm mulling whether to get a Koolance GTX 480 block, just so I can have a pci slot for a 108Mbps Super G wireless pci card that I have(its not a pci-e card), as 3 GTX590 cards and a 690 would not leave any room for the pci card and I don't want to have to use a usb SuperG adapter since I've had problems with them overheating, so it would be a 690, two 590's and a 480 or a 580 if I can find a Koolance 580 block and so far only a 480 block is available, plus I don't want to move to N since Super G works just fine for Me. The case for this cruncher is looking to be the Caselabs STH10 since it can securely hold enough radiators to cool this beast, My cat Grace, a Maine Coon cat likes to chew on cables and so I don't allow Her near such stuff, not if I can help it at least. Oh and why have EK on the motherboard and Koolance on the cards? Availability.

Here's a pic of the motherboard with it's waterblock and cpu blocks all mounted...
