I installed a Gigabyte GN-W101GT 108G mini-pcie card and its 1x adapter card in the 4x pci-e slot today and I tried to see if a 38mm thick fan would fit up in the top, clearly the max is either 25mm or 30mm, My guess is 25mm since there is a ridge that sticks down from the top that separates the places where two 200x30mm fans would go. I also took the opportunity to remove a sata cable from the front and I'll later remove the 1394(firewire) cable too as their both in the way and I don't use them.

Ok I found My 250GB WD Velociraptor(I'd gotten this under warranty by exchanging a 150GB raptor w/a broke sata connector for the 250, 100GB for the cost of shipping, sweet) and I've installed it in the case, I've also found 3 Koolance 120x25mm 108cfm fans for the 360 radiator, but until I can get some more parts(screws and an NZXT fan power card), those fans will stay on the shelf.

Quite some interesting work there.

Reminds me of the description of Hotblack Desiato's super smooth all black ship! ;-)

Good luck for the cooling and firing it all up. Hope the memtest86+ and GPU tests fly through cool enough!

And thanks for the blog and pics. I've got grand designs on using a 4U 1m(!) deep rack mount for a super-cruncher for when its not busy doing image reconstructions...

Happy cool fast crunchin',

Ok I changed My mind, I did find out with a steel ruler, that between the motherboard and the radiator there is 1/2" of empty space(roughly 13mm), so an 86mm thick radiator is out as that would be a full 13mm overlap of the motherboard and I don't know if the overlap would hit other parts on the motherboard or not. I also took the time to install the 1st GTX590, which is an EVGA 1596 card.

I found 9(used 8, as 1 is under a water block) screws to mount the motherboard with and removed the back of the hot swap bay since it's not needed and moved the reservoir to the top to see if there was room, turns out the 413.6x124x60mm radiator and the reservoir fit together just fine, as would a 399x124x86mm radiator, of course I haven't measured to see if the 86mm deep radiator would fit with the motherboard or not yet, but I'll do that soon enough, like when I fit the 1st 590 card, possibly on Saturday or maybe Monday, Just doing this made Me sweat like niagara falls the temp in here is a cool 75F(63% humidity since the swamp cooler is running). I'm not sure of what should go where in the bottom four 5.25" bays, a 650w Tt video card psu(690 and 580) and two optical drives, I think the psu should occupy the two spots just below the reservoir and the last two bays for the optical drives, which means I'll need to relocate one more part as the psu won't need more than one to hold the psu in the drive bay since the psu takes up two drive bays.

Ok a small update, I found that if I want to install 3 Koolance 120x25mm 108cfm fans above the radiator and below the plastic top where the 200mm fan used to be, I'll need some 6-32 1-1/2" screws and some #6 washers and along with the other screws I need for the current PC, that's $21.06 with tax from the Home Depot, but that will have to wait until about July 2013, as My income for June 2013 is just not able to go that far, cause of events beyond My control or prediction. Of course I'll need a Phobya 4-Pin to 6 x 3-Pin Fan Splitter PCB($12.49) to connect the 3 fans to the psu, when I get that far, cause right now the only other workable psu I have is an 850w TX850 Corsair, I do have an Enermax 1050w psu, but it needs the 24 pin cable repaired before it could be useable again, as the green wire connector is damaged.

Ok, I've started to install a few components, the two fan ducts installed here are just to prove that 25mm thick fans can be installed above the radiator with the screws that came with the Coolgate 360x120x60mm radiator, but then I don't have enough Delta 113cfm fans for both My current PC and the one here, yet, also I'm not sure an 86mm thick radiator would fit with the R3E motherboard. Plus I installed the bottom filter that will be between the psu and the case. The original 200mm fan above where the radiator is now had 3 screws installed with blue locktite, I had to use a small screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers to remove those screws. Oh and cause of the radiator the top bay would be restricted to shorter than normal devices like a fan controller.

Ok I've made a decision, I'm not going to get a $930.00 case, with 5 radiators(1-360, 2-420 and 2-560) it would be heavy, So I thought I'd split up the task a bit, get a Phobya 1260 radiator stand that can handle 3 420x140mm type radiators, in this case their 86mm deep, I'm going to see if an 86mm radiator will fit in place of this 60mm deep radiator(a 120x360) in the CM HAF X case and a 140x140x86mm radiator, these 86mm radiators are Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta and their mostly copper. It could be that no radiator will fit where the back 140x140mm fan is at in the HAF X case. I'll have to get the 120x360x86mm radiator and see...

Thread title change, since there will be only 7 gpus...

OH, sigh.

What a setback, Victor.

I only have palpitations when one of my modest rigs gets a knot tied for some reasons.

But then, I don't have unlimited time to deal with such things.
You seem to be blessed with that, at least.

Wish you only the best in your endeavors.

Just mind Grace first, willya?

No it's not a real problem, this would allow Me to run 3 wu's per gpu, if I had all dual gpu cards the most I'd be able to run would be 16 at a time, this way it should be 21, since I think I can make the GTX580 the primary card. Also I was going to run this card off the usb 2.0 bus(below), I tried getting Windows 7 to recognize it on usb, the leds lit up, but nothing else happened, the OS would recognize the card in the pci-e slot, just not usb which I could place else where in the case. Also Grace gets top billing here, She has plenty of food, corn litter and all the attention She can handle.

I don't know if you want to consider this or if you care about it at all but...

Depending on your case, of course, the bottom card can *easily* run on air. That would save the cost of water-cooling that card. I have three systems with three GPUs in them, all on air-only. I would have four cards in two of them but I can't adequately cool four on air and don't want to spend the money for water-cooling.

In two of the three cases, there are bottom case fans blowing upward. I have to increase the fan-speed on the "middle" card as far as it will go. The top cards I usually increase the speeds some (even a lot) but not 100% or 80% (the max in some instances).

The bottom cards are cool... very cool... usually with their fans on "auto" and at the same temps as the middle and upper cards, we're talking 40% fan-speed.

Just a thought.

(BTW - I am talking about squirrel-cage fan models with "closed" shrouds exhausting most of the heat from the rear of the case in two of the systems. One has an "open shroud" on the bottom card.)

I'm not suggesting anything, or recommending anything, and I have no opinion about what you do with your system. I'm just reporting.

That's ok, it's an STH10(see pic), as to having the lower card on air, being it is an EVGA GTX590 1596 will be water cooled as It has a Koolance block for it already mounted, oh sure I could place it above the 580, but most of the case will have several large radiators, 3-560x140mm(top), 1-420x140mm, 1-280x140mm and 1-140x140mm radiators(or maybe instead of 1-420x140mm radiator I might have 2, it depends on the psu size, the main psu is 240mm long(1600w, 50A/110A), the secondary psu is only 160mm(1000w, 80A)), I'll probably have enough room for My 306x120x60mm radiator, this case is humongous and the size is: 32.25"H x 26.56"D x 11.25"W (819mm x 675mm x 286mm)...

There is a review of the STH-10 on Youtube with Tiny Tim Logan, which I'm running as I type this, here's the link, the case costs a about the same as a 690 card and the case has to be assembled, though I think Caselabs sells an assembled version too, it just costs more, unassembled the case costs less to ship I've read. Oh and the case costs more now than Tim mentions as it's been a year since the review was made. There must be a sandman in there somewhere.

Change in Radiators & psus, why? Size really, 2-Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta 420mm(468 x 144 x 86mm) and 2-Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta 560mm(607 x 144 x 86mm), plus 3 Silverstone 1000w ST1000-P psus(one for this PC), which have 80A on the 12v rail each and are 160mm deep and a 450w FSP Booster X5 video card psu for this PC.

I watched the video.

That's insane.

I'm watching this and thinking to myself, "Self, for that kind of money and size, you can either build a custom case from smuggled ivory, or you could get some old-growth South American Mahogany and a CNC router, or you could go purchase a small house and mount stuff to the walls and ceiling."

I look forward to your posting photos when you get it all built.

Yeah, it's the cost of someone doing the parts fabrication and such and not in mass production, but it fits and I think the dimensions don't include casters, which might add 1.5" to the height or 34" tall, that's quite a case, almost a piece of furniture in fact.

That's going to be in a few months before I can get the case, like maybe Nov 2014, plenty of stuff to get before then, like a 590, a 690, 3-580's, pay property taxes, buy food, a cpu(either an 875K or an 880), pay dmv on the car, etc, etc, really as much as I can, when I can. Yes I do have a timetable guide to when I'll get what.

Vbobier there is a guy with a simular m/b to what you are using could you please come over to his thread as his machine has some problems i'm wondering if because the board has water air cooling on the board if this could be a problem as he is not using water cooling and the heat sink he is trying to use I think is totally wrong for the board .
After installing the fan he says there is a gap between the heat sink and the CPU a big no no if you could help most appeciated
