This discussion just reminded me of it.

That's funny. To clean that mess up, you would be best advised to completely reinstall the OS.

Eek! 17 or 18 of those, run for the hills.

the update tried to install google chrome toolbar I think and I said no I don't use chrome it's caused problems and I wish they would stop doing that shit if I what it i'll freaking download it

Java updates are notorious for trying to install the Ask toolbar -- you have to remember to uncheck it (I wish it were illegal to have things like that selected by default!) every time you do an update. ...and seeing how often they are patching Java lately, and how many machines I ride herd over, I need to do it just about every freaking day!

I agree.
Wish that 'pushing' unwanted programs with somewhat necessary ones was illegal.
Crap should be 'opt-in' only.
Not 'ooops mode' or opt-out.

There was a time they would not give you an option to uncheck things like that, but laws were passed requiring an option to uncheck certain things.

Can you rob batteries out of another device like a remote?

Have you tried following the troubleshooting guide for your keyboard at logitech's site?, there's a reconnection utility too.

Not having a problem with Java 7.21 and as far as wireless goes, I have a Logitech trackball & Microsoft keyboard for both of my machines for as long as I can remember with no problems except when it's time to batteries.

No batteries here.
Just a trusty 42h1292....
These things are like battleships.
I have wrecked more than a few of them by physically throwing them across the room years ago. Keycaps everywhere....LOL.
