I agree that the Syrian gov is a bad one but like you said sounds like the agency's are up to there old games .Sometimes you need a basket case gov in power to stop them all fighting each other case in point Iraq Saddam was bad but at least bombs weren't going off everyday and hundreds killed |

However, it's been on Hague's wish list for months, so, pray tell (asides from a humanitarian reason), just what is Britain's interest in Syria? This was asked on 9th Dec 2012 which never did receive a clear & precise answer! Maybe now it will.... Del-boy wants to do a B liar job ..... Shades of Iraqi Deja Vu.......... "It follows evidence from the US and the UK that Syrian government troops may have used chemical weapons. US President Barack Obama has pledged a "vigorous investigation" after US intelligence found Syria may had used the nerve agent sarin." Both nations can't find the funds to restart growth in their economies, yet can find funds for military campaigns? No EU debate on this then Del-boy? Hmmn, wonder why not? |

Why stop at The Beatles? Humphrey Davey. Richard Trevithick. Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Augustus Pugin. Joseph Bazalgette. Sir George Armstrong. Sir Sydney Camm. Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Yes she does James and well said. But I doubt that there would be much backing for a banknote though. Personally I wouldn't object to it, but I wouldn't advocate it. I can imagine that too many people wouldn't like it though. If you think about it maybe the Beatles were more famous than she was, but they won't ever feature on a banknote. Wonder if we'll ever see a Maggie note, I would guess not though. Sir Winston Churchill is pretty much known throughout the whole world as Britains WWII leader, and his historic 1941 meeting with Roosevelt resulting in the Atlantic Charter made him known to Americans. I don't think that Thatcher was that well known outside of Europe. Chris, She was well known here in the states. And for myself I respected her. She did what needed to be done and damn her popularity. A leader leads regardless of what the polls show. She deserves a place in history. [/quote]Old James |

The UK economy has avoided falling back into a recession after recording faster-than-expected growth in the first three months of the year. The Office for National Statistics said its first estimate for gross domestic product (GDP) showed the economy grew 0.3% during the first quarter of 2013. Chancellor George Osborne said it was an "encouraging sign". Economy Well he would do wouldn't he, as a member of the Opposition it's his job to oppose. As I've said before and will say again. Too many Balls on their front bench and not enough in their leader! |

The Victoria station killing was 3 years ago in 2010, this new report has just come out. 3 years is a long time and things probably have changed, although whether for the better is a matter of conjecture. I doubt the articles were intended to be linked in any way. Like all the political parties, Labour has now turned it's attentions to the General election in 2015. There is still a reasonable chance that it could be heading for another hung parliament, in which case every vote is going to count. Labour know that so they are trying to dream up schemes to increase their share. Tory voters tend to brave hell and high water to make their vote but Labour voters can be a bit fickle on the day, hence coming up with ideas to make it easier to put your cross on the paper. Many polling stations are in schools already, but having them in supermarkets just isn't practical due to the security involved. Specifically you must be able to make your vote without anyone being able to see what you decide. I was one of the tellers outside at a local by-election last year, and we asked if we could stand in the doorway out of the wind. The Reurning Officer refused because it would have given us a direct view of the polling booths which is not allowed. And damn cold it was too! As Shadow leader of the House of Commons Ms Eagle is sometimes mildly entertaining at the opposition despatch box, but she is not widely seen as a heavyweight politician. Making polling day a public holiday could even backfire if it's nice Spring weather, and people go off out for the day. A lottery? I think Labour are starting to get panicky, as well they might. |

Ever since I saw Summer Holiday with Cliff Richard as a lad, I've fancied having a go on a London bus. Yeah OK, the old ones had a Wilson pre-select box, but I've driven an old Lanchester car hat had that. But you can keep the artics, many years ago I had a go at reversing a car and caravan into a driveway. After a dozen tries I gave up and let the owner do it in one. You need reverse thinking!!! Now imagine something 7 times longer and trying to revese . Only seen it done once and he only had to go back a few meters , me nada where's the roundabout hehehe

It's like anything else, just down to experience. The more you do it the better you get. In my first 6 months, there were a few walls in the South-East that needed rebuilding :( Edit: Have even taken some road signs for a ride, as well as some telegragh poles. |
