If the affair is revealed, it is likely to cause as much public surprise as the disclosure of the relationship between John Major and Edwina Currie, which was kept secret for nearly two decades until 2002. That is basically why the Tories lost the 1997 General election. The public were fed up with Tory sleaze, and decided to give fresh faced Tony Blair and "New" Labour a chance. I still think the clever money is on a Lib-Lab coalition in 2015, rather than a minority Tory government. Although it is hard to envisage that with Millipede in charge. latest political scandal And no, I don't know the names, I am as curious as anyone else. Even If I did know, I wouldn't say. Now it's been publicly acknowledged, it's only a matter of time before it gets on the web anyway, and Downing Street know that, hence the panic. |

Damn right too! Every 5-6 weeks I take a 3 hour train trip to the West country to see my elderly father, and I always sit in the designated "quiet carriage" that has signs up saying no mobiles, so I can do my crossword in peace. Every trip there is some idiot that talks all the time on one. If you complain to the guard they shrug their shoulders, if you complain to the person you get a mouthful of abuse. One of those would suit me just fine, and I would use it! Funny you say that Chris it is the same dam reason I wont one plus it would be funny at Macca's (Mac Donald's) or a coffee shop or pub ....but then I like shit steering heheheh

Cell phone jammers/blockers are fun to use in cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, the underground, etc. A distance between 10 and 30 metres around the jammer will stop all mobile phones (cell phones) from making contact with the network base stations, and therefore stop conversations, music downloads, etc. You sick puppy ...............where can I get one ......lololololololololol

Then turn the jammer off, and connection is re-established. Then turn the jammer on, and ..... It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

The redesign is supposed to make the order paper easier to access electronically On this occasion I think that parliament is wrong. MP's should be sitting in the chamber to listen, and to take a meaningful part in the business of the day. It is quite wrong that they should be tippy tapping away on some trendy little gadget, just because that they think it gives them a modern and "with it" appeal to their constituents. In my opinion Ipads and Iphones should be banned from the parliamentary estate forthwith. In addition if the Whips Office didn't continually send out so much garbage & crap in the first place, MP's wouldn't think they needed them!! Order paper |

Someone was even making a phone call, outrageous. OMG, absolutely, it shouldn't be allowed. I mean what have standards come to? In polite society, one waits until one gets home, then calls the operator and requests to be put through. It will all come to no good, mark my words. Before you know it they'll be dialing the Colonies next .... |

I think that some abusers of these modern gadgets could actually be diagnosed as having an addiction. They will shrivel up and die if they aren't using them every waking microsecond... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Oh lordy, whatever next? A digital doctor's surgery on each platform then? Digitial Addiction clinics? One comment states it best: - "I work in IT support so I have most of the gadgets the average geek is expected to own. PC, Smartphone, Laptop and a tablet. Even though I have the gizmo's I can gladly ditch it all for a good old fashioned conversation. I just don't see this need to check my gadgets every spare minute. Just last year I went on holiday without so much as a mobile phone. Absolute bliss it was." |

I think you will find it is more than just "modern yuppies" that use mobile devices, probably most people from 12 to 50 seem to have them. Having just traveled from South Croydon to Shadwell and back I saw a lot of phones (both Android and iPhone) being used, they all looked like regular people to me. Some were reading books or news, some listening to music, the guy next to me was sorting though his photos. Someone was even making a phone call, outrageous. |

Adding Wifi to the London underground was a thoroughly stupid and ill thought out idea. It was all on the back of the terrible Kings X fire in 1987, where underground it was found that emergency services couldn't talk and co-ordinate with each other. It is only right and proper that measures have been put in place to redress that. 1. If modern yuppies cannot be out of touch with anyone for 10 minutes then simple, stay in the office. 2. If others cannot be out of touch with their mates for half an hour, then simple, don't leave home. 3. If you're a useless nerd that drops their must have, latest iphone gadget, else I've got no street cred, thingy on the tracks, then go and cry to mummy who will buy you a new one. In the summer of 2012 London Underground, in partnership with Virgin Media, trialled Wi-Fi hot spots in many stations, but not in the tunnels, that allowed passengers free internet access. The free trial proved successful so it was extended to the end of 2012 whereupon it switched to a service, available to subscribers to Virgin Media and others, or as a paid-for service. It is not currently possible to use mobile phones underground and a project to extend the network before the 2012 Olympics was abandoned due to commercial and technical difficulties. No sympathy for any of them. |

First level protection is the call to the control room to shut off the power, which takes about a minute. The the SCDs are placed, along with a track circuit short, and you wait a further few minutes (I can't recall exactly how long), do your task. At the end of your task you inform control that you have finished, they will tell you when to remove the track circuit short and the SCDs. But if you are in a hurry there's always the shorting bar - which, if you are lucky is good for a really big flash and bang, or if you are unlucky you miss one of the rails and you have a flash and bang, repeated until the substation decides there really is an earth fault and shuts the power down. Not only 630V dc between the two current carrying rails, but the ability to supply several thousand amps without any problems.... I'm either dreaming or I'm stuck in an alternate reality! Mind the Apps "There have been a number of incidents where the service has been delayed due to staff having to retrieve phones that customers have dropped accidentally onto the track." WHY? It's their loss for being careless! "In some instances, customers have put their own safety at risk by attempting to get down onto the electrified track to retrieve their property" Some people need to be coloured Dumb! There's 630 volts DC flowing through those rails! "Station staff are required to stop trains and put protection in place to retrieve articles from lines" More craziness! The protection used is 2 SCD's (Short Circuiting Devices} & to put those down, one is looking at 8-10 minutes to place them, recover items & remove them. Unfortunately, after 7 minutes, the power is restored & there can be an almighty flash when that happens. Oh well, it's to be expected in the most politically correct(stupid) city in the country! |
