Well that's the Waily Fail for you. When they provide accurate articles & too many link into them, they pull them!

But some good news for you fellow crunchers - gonna be busy for next 10/15 days so no time for online fun :(

A regular business client of mine consistently failed to take heed of the advice given & now the crap has hit the fan - he was firebombed by gippos & I'm needed tomorrow for the Insurance Assessment.

It looks like the weekend has been taken already :(

As for the rest, I've got given some nights out which I've accepted - an offer I couldn't refuse :)

Cambridge/London/Portsmouth, Liverpool & Germany (I'm going to see if I can drag the Germany trip out a bit :) )

But don't smile too broadly - I'll be back with a vengeance! :)

German Euro-Sceptic Party Gaining Ground



The significant thing here with this German Euro-sceptic party is if they
gain a high level of German electorate support, especially during next years
Euro elections. If they do make major Euro M.P gains they will tie up with
the UKIP in Europe potentially making things very difficult for Brussels.
Just how anti-Europe are the main stream Germans?....when was the last time
politics was as exciting as it is at the moment?...most probably that time when we
voted in out first woman Prime Minister. You do wonder if a political baloon is
about to burst somewhere....could it be if UKIP swamp the Euro vote here next
year and Cameron forces a snap General Election months afterwards hoping to
ride on the anti-Europe feeling here. If he did make it an in or out election
and to vote the Tories back in means we waltz out of Europe he would win a
majority government General Election. Many would say he would not do it in case
he upsets his Tory Europhiles. But to keep power he like others will do most
things to achieve it. Plus if he gained an out of Europe vote then the
Europhiles will know they have lost the game for they wont have the electorate
to support them. Go for gold Cameron for there's no silver or bronze awards in
politics...your either the the P.M. of the UK or your a nothing just like the
rest of them.

Yes, 2015 is going to be very exciting...at the moment who can tell what the
outcome will be.

Granny won't be bulldozed by Tesco's

It looks like she's on a loser here. Tesco's just lost a regular customer as I've sent my cut up clubcard to their head office along with the reason why! Just wondering how much passed hands at that local council?

How long ago did we decide this?

2 additional runways at Heathrow excites senior ministers

Oh well, they'll take 30 years to getting around to building them.

Hey you should have said, I'll have your points.

Strange but I have shopped for years in my local small cramped "supermarkets" which were grubby and you definitely had to check expiry dates on everything!! Also had to avoid the local drunks who were buying alcohol as soon as the shop opened at 7am. And the staff never seemed to smile!!

When Tesco's were known to be looking to open an "Express" store nearby everyone was up in arms. One person was in the local paper saying that alcohol would be available from 7am till 11pm and this would encourage drinking.!!!Obviously never shopped in my local Nisa!

Since the Tesco's opened I now shop in a bright clean environment, that has security guards to keep out the drunks and where I am greeted with a smile by the staff. and the selection of items is first rate.

Tesco's was definitely the best thing that has happened round here for a long time.

Yes Sirius. we drew that conclusion quite some time back after debating this
issue. Had it been left to us to action we would have started building these
extra TWO runways back last year. Come to think of it, we were going to
engage Murphy's on this project to lay these runways down.

As I predicted some time ago, the only sensible option is to expand Heathrow in some way, despite public opposition whipped up by the media.

On this issue and as Sirius stated earlier the only viable option was to expand on
Heathrow. Our final conclusion was that just building a third runway would never
be sufficient and the old expanding of Heathrow chestnut would come back to haunt
us all again 10 years down the line. The conclusion to all this was to build a
third and fourth runway and in the process clear all the land North of the
Bath Road, this area encompassing the town of Sipson. It was quite clear here
that had the planners got it right back thirty odd years ago they would have
cleared Sipson way before it ever became developed. If this time around only
a third runway gets built then the same planning mistakes will be made again.
If the Government has not got the guts to do the correct thing and build both the
required runways, clear Sipson in the process then the only other option will be
to build a completely new International Airport and take all the international
flights away from Heathrow. The main air carriers do not want to have to split
their business's between two UK International Airports for if their forced to
they will continue to move their business abroad and into Europe. Having just
one, central to their mind, UK international Airport is what appeals to the
international carriers...that's why they love Heathrow in the UK.

So to keep our status with the international carriers we have two choices...
1). Clear Harmondsworth, Sipson and Little Harlington and expand Heathrow into
these areas with two new runways.
2) If the above is too difficult to achieve then the only option left will be
to build a new International Airport but Heathrow will have to loose most
of it's international flights in the process.

Finally, why not ask the carriers what they would like. This I suspect has
already been done and the answer was "Expand Heathrow"

Best solution here would to do a survey on the ones objecting to the noise. for example: -

1: Have you ever taken holidays?
2: If answer to 1 is yes, have you ever holidayed abroad?
3: If answer to 2 is yes, did you fly or sail?
4: If answer to 3 is fly, did you fly from Heathrow?
5: If answer to 4 is Heathrow, would you like to continue flying from there or the new International Airport being built at Manchester?

I'll lay odds that all those complaining will state Heathrow. Job done! Tell them as all the objectors have won, we'll be shutting down Heathrow & handing it over to developers & creating a new International Airport in Edinburgh to help the independent Scots get some income.

The outcry from the NIMBY's will be heard in the Antarctic!

Both were built out in the country

Not wholly with respect to Heathrow. Heathrow, or on it's inception London
Airport, was built slam-bang in the middle between Hayes and Feltham. These
two towns heavily affected in parts by the noise generated from aircraft landing
and taking off from Heathrow. The intervening minor towns off Harmondsworth,
Sipson and Little Harlington being the most affected as they skirt the northern
boundaries of this airport. Here is where the real problem exists for these areas
have subsequently been built up whereas they should not have been. Governments
have known that Heathrow would over the years require ongoing expansions and also
knew where the expansion needed to take place. But governments being what they
are have as much business acumen as could be found on the ars'-end of their
pants. They knew it needed expansions but they were just too incompetent to
get to grips with basic figures and facts which many-many years ago told them
clearly, well clearly to us here anyway, that the Sipson area will one day be
required for further airport expansion. What did they do, they fiddled and made
music cos's that was easy to do and totally ignored the fact that while they
fiddled the Sipson area was being urban developed. Urban developed because no
one was aware, other than governments, that Heathrow was to go on having to
be expanded time and time again. No one aware that Heathrow was going to get
busier and busier - noisier and noisier as time went on...only governments
knew these facts. So back in the late 1960's the government's of these times
knowing what they knew should never have allowed the Sipson area to expand
under urban development...but being the numpties that they are could not put
two and two together.

In my heart of hearts I favour a completely new International Airport.
If Heathrow is expanded to include two new runways the problem of late night
aircraft noise will not be solved so Heathrow will still remain closed to
night time traffic. This is woefully inefficient and looses much business.
I favour a completely new airport to be built over at Farnham with all
Heathrow's international traffic transferred there in total. Sirius favours
somewhere east of the M25 but either area would permit the new airport to
operate 24 hours a day.

Good post Nick, however, I don't favour anywhere in particular. Just get it done & have a strict legally enforceable policy that NO urban development to be allowed within a 10/15 mile radius to the airport.

The problem will be in finding a suitable area within easy distance of London. All points north of London is no good as we'll lose a hell of a lot of business should they locate it too far from London.

Still plenty of areas to build a regional hub linking London to the rest of the country.
