Fair comments....but what about the Lib-dem bomber? Was he a closet UKIP activist then?

Message 1365278 - Posted: 6 May 2013, 21:45:41 UTC - in response to Message 1365142.

I have no idea about John Larsen other that he was/is a Welsh town councillor. AS far as I know he is still remanded in costody. Very odd state of affairs.

It's a sad state of affairs when those in power make stupid comments that come back to haunt them. Unfortunately for the Lib-Dems they are in power as the 2nd half of a coalition government, so take equal blame.

Now for my number 1 pet hate!

TOO many in authority are using computers without reading correctly what is displayed on the screen & also not reading what is on paper files in front of their eyes.

An excellent example of this: -

Armless Artist denied entry to UK

""But in my online visa application it was written that I am an artist and that I don't have hands. I paint by holding a brush in my mouth and between my toes.""

"But he got a letter from the British Consulate in Istanbul saying his "biometrics were of poor quality" and asking him to resubmit his application."

Of course they would, you ruddy fools!

The bill also grants an amnesty and immunity from prosecution to the almost 5,000 Irish soldiers who fought alongside the allies.
And damn right too. So, why did it take so long for justice to be done??

Not forgetting the Royal Navy, RAF & Merchant Marine. Just proves that politicians the world over are as bad as each other!

Message 1365534 - Posted: 7 May 2013, 21:05:50 UTC - in response to Message 1365491.

Mr Cameron said: "Now I want to give people a choice not between the status quo and leaving the European Union. I want to give people a proper choice between Britain remaining in a reformed European Union or leaving that European Union.

"That's the choice that people will have, that is the choice that people want and there's only one way to get it and that'll be by supporting the Conservatives at the next election."

i.e. Vote me in with a majority government or you won't get a vote!!

I told you that before ....

EU vote

But didn't he state that before he got elected in 2010? Didn't he also say recently 2015 which suddenly became 2017?

Just what guarantee has the electorate have that should we elect him in 2015, we'll get the vote in 2017?

At the moment....NONE!! Unfortunately most go into politics because they feel that
they have been invested with a natural inner-authority that means they know what
is best for all asunder around and below them. I suspect the time old philosophy
of, "You can't permit the common voter to have the occasional choice to decide on
government direction/policy for it will lead to them wanting to this more and
more". A united states of Europe is not what the British want so we should not
be a part of it. UK governments know this but have allowed a minority of persons
with vested interest within Europe to keep us heading towards full membership
of the super state. To this end governments have weakened themselves to the
point that not one of the major parties has the majority support of the electorate
where staying in Europe is concerned. There will be no getting out of Europe
whilst under either the Cons, LibDems or the Labs. Only if the UKIP are heavily
involved with either of these parties will the UK be able to pass a NO
vote to Europe. The reason being that the UKIP will not permit Brussels to
finance "YES" vote propaganda campaigns via the UK press and other media outlets
as they will do, have done in the past in other countries.

Do you know that Germany feels that the only reason why the European Union
has any credibility about it at the moment is because the UK is part of it.

Exactly, & that's why all within the EU are afraid of - UK pulls out & it'll be the end of the gravy train & the countries involved will have a sharp bitter pill to swallow - but it will be better than the one it's taking at the moment.

September 2008 is when the balloon burst & all that is happening is everyone trying to patch it up rather than dispose of it & use a new one.

Its going to take at least a decade before the current cockamamie policies to filter down to the lowest level & when it does, & should the EU still be in existence at that time, there will be, without any doubt, massive civil unrest due to the fact that bills will be constantly rising but there will be no income coming in for those concerned.......

.... & THAT is the main issue that all those in power should be concentrating on!

If they don't Europe will erupt for the third time & this time around ......

Message 1365762 - Posted: 8 May 2013, 15:40:32 UTC - in response to Message 1365732.

Just finished watching the State Opening of Parliament, and politics aside, it has to be said that no other country in the world can put on a show like that. But it didn't quite go 100% to plan. The Copper who shouts "Speakerrrrrrrrr" nearly deafened us, and the Inspector who says "Hats off, Strangers!" was quite muted. On the last half dozen occasions I've been there it is usually the opposite! Then Black Rod had to wait for an extra couple of minutes outside the Commons Chamber, to get the signal to rap on the door. He was clearly not at all amused. Apparently Speakers prayers over-ran. I expect words will be had later :-)

However a couple of items in the Immigration Bill I wasn't fully aware of :-

Almost two million buy-to-let property owners will now be responsible for checking the immigration status of their tenants, with fines running into thousands of pounds for those breaking the law. Temporary migrants will also be charged for using the NHS and only those who have lived in an area for at least two years will qualify for social housing.

Well we will see, I'll tell you what goes on in my part of South London. Landlords purchase a property with a Buy to Let Mortgage, and then effectively turn their backs on it, provided they see the rent in the bank account every month, they don't care any more. A couple of years later, the original renters have long gone, and have sub-let it to many others in the meantime, a lot of which I'm damn sure shouldn't be here in the first place. If this curbs it then great, but I'm not holding my breath.

Next, how can you bill "temporary migrants" for NHS treatment when it is 99% likely that they haven't got two pennies to rub together? That's the main reason that they are here in the first place, to get free handouts! The only way is to bill the migrant's Embassy for the cost, and make it legally payable. Perhaps when a few foreign Embassies get bills totaling tens of thousands of pounds, they might ask their nationals to stop coming here and taking the piss! Oh and add unpaid parking fines to that list as well.

....+1

Article worth reading from the father of Amy Houston who was knocked down and killed by an illegal immigrant. The immigrant was drunk and on drugs and was "banned" from driving due to earlier infigments of the law.

The memory of my daughter Amy Houston has been dishonoured

An earlier news report on the incident and the earlier "human rights" decision.

Yes, I've always stated that we need to get out of the ECHR. I know HGV drivers that lost their licences due to DD's & could not drive HGV's for 4 years & at the end of that time, have to take a retest before being allowed to return with many failing the test.

We need to introduce that FOR all driving categories!
