Nice try Sirus I was going to bite the canibus post but nada.

Not done to snare anyone. It's a fact. Also, most of the drugs in use today were at one point "alternative medicine" until scientifically proven by the medical profession of the day.

Edit: As for Milton Keynes, it's not a bad place, still hate the roundabouts! did you know it was in the news today? It's going to host the rugby world cup.

This is only my opinion - I think they won't do that because then it would give credence to cannabis.

Think we're watching that old 70's show "The Comedians"

"1456: Prime Minister David Cameron responds to news of UKIP's gains, saying: "We need to show respect for people who have taken the choice to support this party and we are going to work really hard to win them back.""

Hey Del-boy, think you need to find an antique watch!

Oops.... just spotted this....

"1438: Tory MP Adam Afriyie says the political class is not "connected" enough to the public. He says a "wholly Conservative" government, rather than a coalition, is needed to deliver what people, rather than the "political elite", want."

Really Adam? you think so?

We've reached the end of the road for the 3 main parties.
You're over-reacting again.

the same if not better, is going to happen in 2015.

We will have to see won't we. We all know what YOU would like to see, will be interesting to find out how many agree with you.

Just finished watching Nick Clegg on the BBC's Live report of these elections....

"1651: The Lib Dems are on a "journey", says Nick Clegg, from "a party of protest to a party of government". Losing "hard-working councillors" is a "regrettable" step along the way."

Have the courtesy to allow others that same opportunity!

Well come 2015, we'll see.

It looks like the Lib Dems will be stuck in the Wilderness as both main parties don't really want them sharing power....

..so that just leaves the 3 main parties

A 'hung parliament'? Really? William Hague at the FO (appropriate in some ways)? Idiot Supreme, George Osborne, as Chancellor. Do I really need to go on? OK. Eric Pickles (always in one - it goes with the cheese). Theresa May...never mistaken for a 'glamour model' of the same name and having the same IQ! Kenneth Clarke - he of very short memory and volatile...worn out! Iain Duncan Smith, an ex-Guards officer with a pension that many 'manual' Council employees, would be very thankful for - yet to live on benefits! Jeremy Hunt; the infamous spelling mistake of his surname, was probably not far from the truth. Phillip Hammond...another organ?! Francis Maude...still alive, after serving under Thatcher?! Just, don't forget about his numerous 'business links', as per many 'represenatatives', these days, of any political 'colour'.

The whole lot of them, should be let loose on a live firing range! Can I have the GPMG, for preference? Hung? Not if I had my way!!!

Ed Miliband 'pleased' with local election results...

Opposition leader Ed Miliband has said he is "pleased" with Labour's local election results, arguing that his party can revive the nation's fortunes.

The man's deluded!!

If you have a look at this list below, you can see what attracted the voters, but there is one major problem, they don't seem to have any idea of how they are going to pay for it. They don't say who their various spokesmen are for the Government Depts either. What they seem to have done is drawn up a list of what they think the public don't like, and constructed a party around that list, promising to do something about it. All good PR of course, and guaranteed to get the protest vote, but they don't say which public services will be cut to pay for it, or how much taxes will go up. As Labour found out, you can't spend what you don't have.

UKIP Policies

Hi Iona, on your usual good form I see :-)

I gather the nitty-gritty of how they intend to achieve these promises will
be declared nearer to the next general election...makes sense I suppose, don't
want the opposition parties getting in on their act. As some commemorators are
saying, "UKIP,the only party without parliamentary seats who are able to
influence government policy"....how long before they start to influence Brussels
policy too?? Just shows what can happen when people realise they have real power
when it comes to voting....so are the main political parties now going to start
acting upon the wishes of the electorate???

Well from someone who continues to say that we will stay in Europe as long as it benefits us & leave when it doesn't, just doesn't quite gell with what your party is saying.....

What Lib-Dems think of Euro Referendum

..& your starter for 10 is......

"As the only real pro Europe party, we should concentrate on telling the true story of our involvement in the EU."

..& your bonus for 10.....

"We have more important things to be getting on with at the moment; when the EU is back on track, then we can think about it."

So we can expect continuous dithering from them for the next 20 years!

I can't yet find the turnout percentage for last Thursday, but usually the General election gets 60% and the local ones 40% Turnouts. It is probably fair comment to say that as a new keen, all fired up party, UKIP probably have more active activists than the other parties, that coupled with an expected 40% average turnout may have given them the results they got. Striking while the iron is hot always gets the best results.

Could be right, could be wrong, just an observation.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21240020

1810: Average turnout was 31%, according to BBC analysis of key wards - down 10 points on 2009, when these seats were last up for grabs.

Most certainly they don't seem to have any idea of how to finance what they think the public want.

I'd be most surprised if they didn't have any ideas here. I very much suspect
that all this will be made much clearer the nearer we all get to the next general
election. Good timing is the essence in politics especially where a general
election is concerned so I don's suppose any of the major parties will be
declaring their hand of 2015 until later next year.

Don't expect referendum in 2015 or 2017

Why Not?

answer = "In response to Mrs May's comments, UKIP leader Nigel Farage, said: "She is asking us to trust the PM on a matter of a European referendum. He has a remarkably bad track record of keeping his word on this particular matter.""

He's on a winner here for the simple reason is that should the Tories lose, he knows Liebour will definitely not give it to us & if he wins, he'll back out of offering it again with some other puny excuse.

So Nigel is right....Same old, same old with 4 classes now in Britain - working, middle, upper & now Political Class (career politician whose god is self interest).

emphasis on the old

Don't expect referendum in 2015 or 2017

Also don't expect Cameron either to clamp down on the lobbyists with their
ability to over-influence government policy. This is another promise that he has
failed to carry through with...a scandal waiting to be fully exposed. So who's
calling the shots in government, not necessarily those who you voted for but
those outside with vested interests in their wants and no one else's. It's all
dirty business and the UK would be best off without it. We the electorate have
a right to know what's going on behind closed doors for it effects us. Dirty
money gets paid into the relevant party coffers when many of these post lobbying
deals get pulled off....it's brown envelope money, are our governments no more
than just gangster-toffs at times.

There's a sea of change ahead...I believe none of the main parties has
recognised this. One or more of these parties will become casualties of this
change...the book of politics is beginning to be re-written...from small acorns
so does great oak trees grow....the planting of acorns has started and how long
before the great oak tree grows then your guess is as good as mine...but the
tree will finally come to forth, just give it time.

Yep, was down today, got back at 15:51. J's 25-27 M25 closed :( The economy's really hurting a lot of people. Attended 2 computer fairs & the loss of regular retailers was instantly noticeable :(

Main reason was costs going up but people just not spending.

Tory 2015 manifesto

Lib Dem 2015 manifesto

Labour 2015 manifesto (estimated)

UKIP 2015 Manifeso ???

@Sirius

Not just mine, suggest you read more, surf more & listen more...then maybe the Lib-dems might just go places.

The last General Election was held on 6th May 2010. I would suggest that being in Government for the last three years, could well be classed as going places. They have 5 Cabinet Ministers and many other Ministers. Can I suggest in turn that you read less (Waily Fail), surf less, and listen more carefully.

Actually we now have 5 social classes. working, middle, upper, Political, bad tempered old gits.

Make that 6, you forgot cantankerous old fogeys.... :)

The only places the lib dems are going is the relegation zone, in this case at least fourth, but more than likely seventh!
