Sounds like a complicated system our councils only run things like local streets , garbage removal ,local sports grounds and public places , town plan ,water
Then if they do the wrong thing as in the case of our local council criminal things then the state gov sack's them appoints a admin and we all have to wait till the next council electon to elect new 1 's
So why do we pay council rate s mmmmmmm one day they will be able to answer me on that
The state gov run's most things here and what it don't the fed does
Kinda makes me think i'm glad I never went back home to live ...
You guys got toooooooo many problems

but I have my doubts about your political system :-)

generally it ok and works but the local council bit definatly could be changed I know of about 3 different councils that have been sacked over the last ten yrs or so.

mind you what political system is perfect ? ,there's always someone that stuffs parts of it no matter what side of politics it is .....lol

We had a referendum about an Alternative Vote system to make it fairer, but too many vested interests turned it down.

Alternative Vote Referendum...

On a turnout of 42.2 percent, 68 percent voted No and 32 percent voted Yes. Only 10 of the 440 counting districts recorded 'Yes' votes above 50 percent; six in London, and those in Oxford, Cambridge and Edinburgh Central and Glasgow Kelvin in Scotland.

Seems like a decisive 'NO' vote by the voting public, here.

yes it is pretty much like England and is based on that system it's just we don't have Lords and the state gov looks after roads water ,electricy, gas however I believe they have been trying to privatise them .

I just hope we never go down the road of a republic I personally believe that system is the worst system there is not surprising as it's based I think on the French system I don't need to say any thing more

That's a shame it didn't go through it's the system we have and why Labour won they got the prefances of the Greens . the Liberals all ways need the pref of the National party or the would never have won when Howard was there Leader .

Pitty it's a good system very fair and limits problems when bounderys are changed by not giving any party a advantage

What about the BBC I heard there in the front pages again with the child sex scandal . Rolf Harris is in trouble too shock horror . Bad enough that Saville was doing it (was thinking of changing name even if he's not got my family name no "e") Wonder if Margret Thachers funeral is still fresh in peoples minds and affecting the elections ?

"Remarkable night"

Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman said UKIP's rise was a "wake-up call" to other parties.

"We should listen very seriously if people are feeling disaffected and disenchanted," she said on the BBC's Question Time programme.

"It is a challenge to us, it's a wake-up call for us to actually listen to people who feel that times are hard and wonder whether any of us have actually got the answers."

The same old line pumped out again, election in - election out, the word listen
features every time but never the word act on what the people want.

Yep & because of that, Sir Humphreys old chestnuts "A week's a long time in politics" & "that always happen in mid term elections as electorate doing protest votes" no longer apply.

We've reached the end of the road for the 3 main parties, NOW they will have to really listen & act, otherwise, they'll be the ones fading into the sunset!

& before Sir Humphrey butts in with his political bumf, the same if not better, is going to happen in 2015.

We will have to see won't we. We all know what YOU would like to see, will be interesting to find out how many agree with you.

Really, & just what would that be?

I'll tell you what does pee me off, this new craze for saying "we need to learn lessons" and then doing nothing about it. They are all at it in every party. They call them soundbites, this one will bite them in the bum if they don't actually do anything.

All parties? Are you sure about that?

Yes, I have heard and seen the same comment from spokespeople from all three mainstream parties over the past year.

But that's not all parties is it?

If incidents like this continue through to 2015, I'll lay odds on that UKIP will get MP's into parliament!

Arrested & Jailed for trying to LEAVE the country

Oh my giddy aunt, what next? Jailed for refusing to vote?

Agreed, but wouldn't it have made more sense to buy him a one way ticket home instead of the taxpayers now having to fork out £40,000 in this "so-called" time of austerity?

THAT'S what people will see, not the blind obedience you seem to pay to politicians especially your own party, hence the support for the coalition!

UKIP +46

Latest
