I would add Red Meat 'users'. I'm never too far away. :) Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Maybe Scotland has a point... Healthcare is devolved to the Scottish Parliament already, as it is to the Welsh assembly. If Salmond wanted provide this drug to Scottish people, he already can. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Should have clarified my post better. This is the UK & the British government just added another £80 million to the Cancer Drug Fund bringing it to a total of 1.16bn. Everyone should have access to that. Politics shouldn't enter the picture. |

Definitely think union leaders should be prosecuted... ...this is despicable in light of current events in the world! "Robust" plans to counter NHS strike action Let's hope Ebola is on the side of the unions! |

Definitely think union leaders should be prosecuted... ??? I'd like to take this moment to deeply thank my union who, even as I type this, are going to make sure I get the days pay that I should of got paid to me, but my employers tried to get out of paying. I'd like to thank them for taking a stand to protect my working conditions. Thank you Unions. Where would I be without you? Well, there would be no weekends, not minimum pay, no safety protection from unscrupulous employers, no equal pay, no breaks and no protection from being fired on a whim. Thank you unions. Definitely think union leaders should be prosecuted... No denying that, especially coming from me, a dedicated ex-ASLEF steward. My point was: - After 30 years? Why now with a deadly disease on the rampage? No common sense! Oh, also tomorrow, over 100 Military drivers are covering London Ambulance. Hmm, seems the "great unwashed" in the forces have their usage after all! Unions are not allowed in the forces, is that why I wonder? |

Definitely think union leaders should be prosecuted... Deadly disease on the rampage?? Tell me more. I was not aware that Britain was in the grip of a deadly disease! I am sorry. I had not known this. However, even so "Services could be disrupted although urgent and emergency care - including maternity units - are not being targeted." So it is not going to effect emergency services. They are asking for a mere 1% pay rise. That isn't even above inflation. Reality Internet Personality |

How bad can it get? Screening for NHS 111 calls "Jeremy Hunt said anyone calling up with possible symptoms would be asked about their travel history and referred to local emergency services if necessary." Have I read that right? 111: what is the nature of your call? Panic: I think I got Ebola 111: Ok sir, fully protected paramedics are on the way In the meantime, that caller does have Ebola & all those lovely contacts he's made since arriving in the country. Our health service? Sorry, we're on strike. Can't happen? Won't happen? Just how many slip-ups made in the States already? What guarantees does this country have that it won't happen here? Edit: - Case in point |

More medical staff suspended at hospital In all these instances, nothing seems to be mentioned about any bureaucrats being suspended due to their incompetent management skills! To borrow from a post of Julie's which is quite apt for many threads on this board... I bet the Senators and ministers salaries are still flowing. |

Another lot who cannot agree amongst themselves... Weight Loss surgery reduces diabetes risk "The UK NHS is considering offering the procedure to tens of thousands of people to prevent diabetes. NICE anticipates figures in the tens of thousands. However, the surgery can cost between £3,000 and £15,000 and the move by NICE has raised concerns that the NHS will not be able to afford the treatment, even if there are savings in the longer term." |

We're getting there! The problem is: Just how much more going on behind closed doors? Ambulance target plans leaked "fears the plans were rushed at the height of winter when the service is under unprecedented pressure and anger over the secrecy involved. Paramedics say response times distort their ability to treat patients because they have to chase the clock. This is being done for political expediency rather than patient safety and it's being done with the full blessing of Jeremy Hunt. Martin Berry, executive officer of the College of Paramedics, said he was not opposed to change but it could not be done "behind closed doors"." |

During years of prosperity that would have been fun to read. In tough times like these I'm starting to think politicians should be forced to have psych-evals, IQ tests and if they're gonna be in charge of anything even remotely important then a comprehensive test of said subject. Results disclosed to boot. |

In which case, we'd have 650 instant failures on our hands :-) |
