Didn't want to take any other thread off on a tangent.

Have we reached the stage where there are now too many non-medical personnel running hospitals & making decisions that affect the actual purpose of the hospitals just so that they can show profits for their benefit rather than patients benefits?

If there is truly any sin at all, then perhaps bureaucratizing is humanity's worst sin.

The bean counters are the insurance people, but everyone must have insurance. There are times I don't understand my fellow man.

When asking my insurance about a second opinion, I have many times been told that the clerk at the end of the phone was giving me that second opinion.
Nothing at all new here. Insurance companies decide on the care we receive, not only what they will pay for.

In a word. YES

It won't be long before it becomes deadly to even enter a hospital as you won't come out.....

This sort of thing has been happening for many years, I worked in hospital wards for 12 years. There are many reasons this sort of thing happens, both management and not all nurses are angels!

This is hardly the first case like this and will not be the last.

Exactly, so it doesn't bode well then for their profession!

I do believe things have changed for the better over the years, but because of the explosion in "news media" more of the cases get highlighted. News media need to have hundreds of news stories every day, so bad stories about the NHS are high on the agenda.

Numerous MP's call for resignations

"That is a mates culture," she said. "Where people's priority is to protect their mates, systems and procedures, as opposed to what should be the absolute priority for somebody in the NHS, which is to protect the patient - not their friends and the structures but the patient."

Now just where has this been heard before?

Oh how I enjoyed that bit of comical banter between Chris and Sirius....
