The thing about glocks is they are like a revolver, There is no saftey. He must have carried another brand of pistol with a saftey and forgot the one he had didnt have one, Or he ignored the rule to keep your finger off the trigger unless you are ready to shoot.

Hes lucky he shot his foot, What if he had shot a kid? Better he be the butt of jokes than guilty of negligent homicide.

Chris That is what everyone who handles a gun should do as soon as they pick one up. See if it is loaded. And before you pass one around , You check to see if it is loaded. And the person you hand it off to should check to see if it is loaded. Even my two grandson Im teaching how to target shoot know that.

I do what those guys at your club did. I check say weapons empty., Hand it to them theyu check and say weapon is empty. And Before anyone asks we keep are fingers off the trigger and muzzle pointed in a safe direction and we dont sweep across our bodys or anyone else.

When we go shooting we have a lot of fun. But saftey is always first priority. Guns are not toys.

I think that at $8,000.00 a copy, Not to many poeple will make them. And when that ABS plastic lets loose and people start losing fingers, hands and eyes the fun will wear off. I didnt catch what caliber it was,( I will go back and reread it. But thats was a huge chunk of plastic for both the barrel and frame.

Now that the cat is out of the bag though. If they figure how to print carbon fiber to wrap a barrel and a frame made of steel Id be worried. But I still think the cost to the average Joe would be to prohibted. And as for terrorist's why would they make them when they can buy real weapons fron an international arms dealer.

You can learn how to make all kinds of stuff on the internet to kill people. this is just another one. It sounds callous but where is the outcry for pressure cooker bombs on the internet.

I know why because this one is an evil gun.

edit- Ok its a .22 rimfire and its a single shot. And also its the printer that cost $8,000 bucks.

The 3D printer costs £8000, and at present can only produce items in layers of sprayed plastic. What about in 5 years time when they cost a few hundred each, and can make things out of carbon fibre or sprayed metal? What is the worrying factor though is that the technology bypasses the gun laws, which is the point that Wilson was making. Unless you licence the use of the machines, in theory anyone anywhere can make a gun in private, although you would still need to obtain ammunition for it. The man just can't see that what he is doing must be wrong.

With a drill press and a lathe you can make a gun. Why is a 3D printer a game changer?

I agree Gary. It isnt. And I dont see the end of the world coming from it either. I bet the FBI has allready put the printer on its hot list. And if you start getting 1,000 gallons a month of plastic whatever it is you get a visit.

When Apple introduced their LaserWriter in 1985 it was $7,000.

Wiki - LaserWriter

By 2000 a mono laser printer was $100,
Today a colour laser printer is $100.

Seems our government got nervous about not having enough control over who may or may not fabricate a firearm.....

Pentagon scrubs 3D gun plans from Internet, says designer.

Too late! Pandora's Box has been opened & nothing can close it!

What do you think their panic will spawn next?

Restrictions or compulsory registration of 3D printers?
Or force the manufacturers of the raw plastic to embed micro tags so WHATEVER anybody might make from it could be traced?

This is going to be a panic button for those that wish to further their control of the populace. A setback for the Obama administration, for sure.

And you HAVE to know this is all politically self-serving.
They have not tried to take down every site that posts information about how to manufacture pressure cooker or other bomb making materials in the past, now have they?
