Himalayan blackberry, no safe harbor wilt thou find beneath my heuchera. For I am the Weed Slayer, she who makes the purslane pale, the bermuda grass blanch and the quack grass quake and quail. I allow the lambsquarters no quarter. The mallow finds me not mellow. I spot the spotted spurge. I bind the bindweed and draw shades upon the deadly nightshade.

Burclover, the wild radish, the odoriferous onion grass and the onerous oxalis all beg for leniency - yet each, in turn, feels the merciless hand of death descend upon him. Armed only with my trusty trowel and my willful weeder, I triumph with every taproot torn and rejoice with every runner removed.

Fear me, for I am the Weed Slayer.

I'm hoping for a good day very soon so I can get out with my mulcher/shredder and pruning shears/loppers to have my small yard cleaned up for the spring.

But. I consider My Yard More Beautiful than Anyone who Doth Slay and Plays The Game Of Thrones with Da Weeds.

The Palette of Different Greens in My Yard, due to The Great Variety of Nature's Invasion of Whatever Will Sprout is Breathtaking Beautiful. Lushness and Jungle Like. Varegation Galore Dejour.

Plus Weeds Sprout Most Beautiful Flowers and Add Color.

So, Weeds and Insects Enjoy My Yard Immensely. Although I'm well aware of Nature's Battles and Evolutions's Deadly Arm's race.

On a Macro Level tis a Beauty. The Kit Kats and Raccoons also seem to Take Pleasure in The Wanton Weedtastrophe.

Today, I found the smallest tick I've ever seen on my hand. Barely a pin prick and still felt.

I hated killing it. One many many times bigger had the Most Monstrous Grip on me The Other Day. Poor Buggers. They Be Hungary Like Every Living Thing.

Oh well.

Truth be told, there are definitely areas of our yard so weedy they count as "habitat restoration".

I occasionally spray weeds and other things I'd rather not have. I try not to spray the daffodils, peonies, and lilies. So far I'm letting the hostas go too, but I don't like them. I'm also letting most of the catnip go, although it does look a lot like a weed and grows like one too.

I prefer not to spray either as here you just encourage more weeds to come up.

Actually I'm just getting my yard back into shape after it looked like a construction zone for about 2yrs (a very muddy one at that).

Actually, I'd be perfectly happy to get rid of everything and pave it over or put in pea gravel, but I'm not sure it's legal in this town. (Plus I can't afford it.)

I've got lots of gravel and where water is I have a couple of weeds, one of these mornings I'll have to go out with a trash barrel, a hula hoe and some gardening gloves and get rid of the few that I have.

Speaking of odd weeds, I've got to find some better spray, what I have will kill grass, but not any broadleaf stuff, but then their the ugliest weeds too.
