Message 1339133 - Posted: 17 Feb 2013, 11:40:53 UTC - in response to Message 1339114.

Standard UK outlets are 240v @ 13A (120 * 20 = 2400) < (240 * 13 = 3120)
Labelled wattage on my kettle = 3100 and using it does not trip the protection

Most electric kettles in the UK are a nominal 3Kw, and electric radiant fires have 1, 2, or 3 1Kw elements. Standard 3 pin Plug tops have standardised on 3A fuses for table lamps, televisions, videos, computers etc, and 13A fuses for washing machines, microwaves, kettles, toasters. A 13A fuse can take a momentary surge current of up to 20A at switch on.

At the Consumer Unit or fusebox, 5A for lighting circuits, 15A for immersion/storage heaters, 30A for ring circuits (sockets), 45A for cookers & showers. Most modern boxes have re-settable ELCB's/RCCB's instead of cartridge or rewirable fuses. It is worth remembering that fuses are fitted to protect the supply cable from overheating and melting, NOT to protect the equipment that is connected to it. Obviously plugging multiple appliances into a 4 way socket extension lead is not advisable!

+1

Batman is on tonight, the Penguin has gone straight or so it seems...

The penguin does not ever go straight for long.

No He's as crooked a bird as there ever was.

Somebody needs to talk to his milliner.

His Top Hat is a bright shade of Violet this time, He's after a lady's jewel necklace.

Always a horrible shade.

Yeah, well right now Batman and Robin are waiting to get their shots, why not? Their just hanging around...

Yes, but they have bullet proof soles.

So You watched it too, can You guess what's on now?

My son flipped it on. Probably lost in space followed by Star Trek.

Then my daughter switched to The Chamber of Secrets.

Yer in like Flint or should I say Merlin or Da Vinci on the 1st two, the 3rd I've never heard of...

Gee, people in other places are watching ME-TV from Chicago.

But how can you not know Harry Potter?

That's cause I didn't remember that, I've seen it once, so I'm not as familiar with a fantasy movie as I am with SciFi movies and tv shows. Me-TV out of Bishop CA(KVME) or out of Orange County CA(KDOC) didn't show the Harry Potter movie, instead they showed "the Curse of the Werewolf"... Next is Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, an Irwin Allen production, He also made Lost in Space which I watched tonight.

Nobody said Me-TV showed the Harry movie. John said his daughter switched to it, implying it was on a different channel than Batman, etc.

Chamber of Secrets was #2 out of seven books and eight movies. I admit I have not seen all of the movies. I have not seen 6-8 and I'm not sure about 5. I have read all of the books.

Ok, didn't see that part, in any case Harry wasn't on TV here in this area. As to the books I've not read any of them. I've seen most of the movies, once each.

Winning on a cool, sunny, Sunday morning.
Saturday was much busier than I planned.
A luncheon in Fresno, several small projects with issues, and an evening at a local club where some of my Saturday morning friends had a gig. (Jazz band ZZAH if you're interested) Great fun.

This was a somewhat winning day. Not as winning as it could have been, but okay.

Just now I finally got around to watching an episode of Female Forces that's been on my DVR for months. It was a show like Cops, but all about female officers in my town. Lots of fun picking out the locations and seeing how they edited in exterior shots from totally different places than the squad car interiors they were showing.

I'll call that a win too.
