Message 1337517 - Posted: 12 Feb 2013, 21:59:43 UTC - in response to Message 1337490.

I put ID's theory of history religion and thought process with a nice guy who made deliveries to my office. He was a nice guy but was undereducated and easily fooled into believing the least believeable conspiracy theory. Aside from the 9/11 towers/pentagon nonsense, he believed(s) that there are planes flying in patterns over cities putting out heavy metal into the air.

I blew that theory out of the water by simply stating "Don't the people that are trying to poison us have to breath too?" he just huffed and told me I just dont get it.

Sadly, ID falls into this category of crazy conspiracy nut for me. All logic circuits are gone. repeating the rubbish is on. No cure no help unless he is willing to stop drinking the grape flavored sugar water solution

Skill, you asked "why would anyone with any sense want to live in Utah". I answer that the skiing can be really good!

The skiing is an excuse for a visit, it is not an excuse to live there.

Salt Lake City, Utah is a spectacular city--my brother and his extended family live there. I have been out there in the spring and winter and thoroughly enjoyed both. People are nice, the economy is solid and my niece has a phenomenal job at Deer Valley Ski Resort.

If it wasn't for my parents still being alive and my wife/I having spectacular jobs, I'd move there in a heartbeat

Please stop bashing Utah. Thank you.

It is bad luck to mess with crazy people.

True, true. I should know that.

But I really do feel so sorry for him. :((

I really do. He seems so lost and fragile.

Welllllll, thank you. However, Skildude and betreger are in more need of your help then I am. LOL!

ID, I like it when you resort to ad hominem attacks, you show your intellect most clearly.

True history, not revisionist history.

David Barton is not a credible source. He has been slammed by actual historians for his inaccuracies and for being a revisionist.

His book has even been withdrawn from print for being full of errors and misleading.

I consider the source and I'm not talking about Barton.

If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.~C. S. Lewis

I encourage you to listen if you will not read it.

That quote goes on too long, because "if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures" end of story.

And I still say a quote by a human does not mean its proof. There are plenty of quotes by humans who say the opposite.

Plenty of people voted for Obama. Still don't make him a good President.

The fact there is a universe with the right rules in it tuned for life is proof of God.

It's proof of a universe with life in it, nothing more. To my mind "I exist therefore God" is a non-sequitur (Logic. an inference or a conclusion that does not follow from the premises). The ontological argument (that, to some degree, appears to inform C.S. Lewis) has some wonderful parodies (I particularly like the "no devil" parody).
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

In the beginning Man created God;
and in the image of Man
created he him.

2 And Man gave unto God a multitude of
names, that he might be Lord of all
the earth when it was suited to Man

3 And on the seven millionth
day Man rested and did lean
heavily on his God and saw that
it was good.

4 And Man formed Aqualung of
the dust of the ground, and a
host of others likened unto his kind.

5 And these lesser men were cast into the
void; And some were burned, and some were
put apart from their kind.

6 And Man became the God that he had
created and with his miracles did
rule over all the earth.

7 But as all these things
came to pass, the Spirit that did
cause man to create his God
lived on within all men: even
within Aqualung.

8 And man saw it not.

9 But for Christ's sake he'd
better start looking.

Including the majority of Catholics despite what their bishops said.

The polls shows that 50% of voters who identified themselves as Catholics voted for Obama, and 48% for Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
