YummY Just don't drive home again drunk. (Do bars in Belgium, or anywhere else in Europe, do like some American bars and take your keys if you're obviously drunk so they don't get sued?) Our government is introducing an alcohol lock to put in cars. First you have to blow and when you had too much alcohol, you can't start your car anymore. I think that would be quite effective. Me, I never drink and drive! Those exist here, but only as punishment for those who have already been convicted of drunk driving and who can't carry on their daily lives without their cars or for repeat offenders after their license is reinstated. There was even a public service announcement last year that featured it as a bad status symbol. (Guy and hot girl get in his car, he has to blow to start it, she realizes he's a creep and leaves.) Me, I never drink and drive! Haven't thought of that. And people do a lot for money, that's also true... rOZZ Music Pictures |

You'd be surprised how many people drink and drive. I hear it all the time on the news, so sad really... Its not ll black and white Julie. We germans are allowed 0,5 ‰. Even we bavarians have the lowest accident rate in germany. Also each driver who had a accident with alcohol had more than 1‰. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

You'd be surprised how many people drink and drive. I hear it all the time on the news, so sad really... I know Mike but over here it's a real problem...I even think we have one of the highest accident rates in Europe. And very sadly, lots of times it involves young people or kids. 1/3 of childrens deaths, is caused by traffic! rOZZ Music Pictures |

Half a percent??!! Over here, it's technically up to each state to set the legal limit. However, if the federal government wants to set a limit, it can get around the Constitution by making it a condition for federal funding for something (usually highways) that they have to set their limit where the feds want it. I'm not aware of any state where the limit is higher than 0.08%. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Half a percent??!! That would be 0.05% - and that's above which you are in trouble when checked. However, should you cause an accident and are measured above 0.03% you count as under the influence of alcohol... It would help a lot if judges didn't argue 'he was drunk he's not responsible for his actions' but argued 'he is resposible for getting drunk in the first place'. Everybody knows their limit after a while. Every time we get drunk we conciously go above that limit. We realise we are starting to get drunk and then we either carry on or we stop. That decision is our responsability. A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain) |

I used to champion the lowering of limits, because I drove all the time within or without./ Truth be told, it would not have mattered to me what the limits were. I did what I had to do every day of my life, and I just happened to get lucky. It is not my part now. I know the damage can be done, and the social limits wherewhithin. My ranges on the subject are different than most, and could not possibly be refined within the limits of these forums. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

You'd be surprised how many people drink and drive. I hear it all the time on the news, so sad really... It's horrendous. In our area each year for the past year, a certain high school has had a DWI death where the kids had been partying. |

You'd be surprised how many people drink and drive. I hear it all the time on the news, so sad really... And every day it's blamed on us, rather than the social issues that lead us to it.... You are all so ready to place blame. I drink a lot, given. But I do not drive much unless sober these days. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |
