Best I can determine......
Ol' Squirrel is about 90 yo in human years.

I should be so lucky to make it that far.
And still be so spry.

I guess God has blessed myself and the ol' gurl both.

She thanks you all for your best wishes.

Meow.

Well, my ol' Squirrel kitty is still hanging in there....she does show her frailty a bit once in a while, but her appetite is still very good. And that's very important.

Tigger II seems to be having a recurrence of the infection in her right eye. I noticed it had clouded a bit on Sunday, and started giving her a few of the steroid eye drops I had left over from her last fight with it. It seems a little better today. But in the morning I am going to have to give it a good look again and decide if I need to get her another round of the antibiotics that knocked it out the last time.

Meanwhile......I found a really neat thing....it was linked on Freekibblekat.
If you have just short of $3000.00, neat.

Kitty enclosures that are attached to the house by a kitty tube...
LOL, you don't need a transporter to get them back and forth.

And kitty can come and go 'outside' if they wish, without actually escaping the safety of the indoor cat environment.
Kitty condos.......and I think they even come with the kitty tower and other furnishings!!!
Neat, although expensive concept.

I am sure it could be done for less using less 'pretty' building materials.

Yes, a talented local craftsman could probably build them for much less. Love the concept, though...

Problem is that if they aren't fox or dog proof, they have direct access into your house.

Well, there are such things as keyed kitty doors that will only open for a transponder on kitty's collar.

And, of course, the enclosure itself would have to be of a strong enough construction to keep out unwanted grranimals, as well as keep kitty from making an escape trying to chase a bird or such.

And it would probably be a good idea to keep the cat food inside the house and not in the enclosure, lest a wandering band of Korpela raccoons be enticed to try to break in.

Tigger is doing well.
Her eye has cleared up since the steroid drops are gone.
Will have to check on it frequently to see if it flairs up again.

Squirrel......
Dunno. She is a lot more sedate these days.
Still cannot get enough of me. Mashes her head into me all the time and purrs like the dickens.
And my simple touch is like gold to her.

But I can see that her eyes are not quite as bright as they used to be.
They do still shine when she looks up at me, and that's all I could ask of a kitty nearing the Rainbow Bridge.

Squirrel just clamored up upon my chest and started nuzzling me with such abandon....
LOL. Silly Squirrel.

I just have to go back to bed now with her.

If tomorrow does not come for me, I shall be OK with that.

I know what people with children feel like.

I do.

'S why I say meow.

I have a few more days with my Squirrel kitty.
She is getting rather frail.

Sleeps most of the time.

I really don't know how I shall handle her loss.

She has been with me since April of '95.-
I was a much younger man then.

Maybe she shall hang on longer that I think.
Maybe she shall just cuddle up beside me and pass tonight.

I am not sure.

The only thing I am sure of is that a kitty's love is eternal.
No restrictions, no reservations, not a care in the world.
When she looks up at me.......my world stops.
For that one moment, that space in time, nothing else matters. Nothing.

Well, Squirrel has perked up again....she seems to go in cycles. Getting some rather warm weather here, so I gave her some clippy-clips today to get rid of some fur tangles that were simply beyond brushing. She does not groom as well as she used to, given her age, and sometimes within a week or so she develops what I call 'kitty lumps' of fur and I have to clip them out. She will be much more comfortable with them removed.

And, with the heat comes some rather spirited storms, big booming thunder and lightning thingys.

They don't phase Squirrel one bit. Purrball usually hops off the bed at the first boom and retreats to the space underneath the headboard of the waterbed until things calm down. The timid one, Bandit, usually races off to one of the cubbyholes in the kitty tower, and can be found with her large eyes peering out from within. And Tigger II, the kitty on steroids, (actually, she is on steroid drops again for her recurrent eye infection) usually tries to find Dad (me) to be near for comfort and protection.

When I was at the vet today picking up Tigger's eyedrops, there was actually a fellow picking up some 'happy pills' for his dog. Seems the poor pup cannot handle the storms, and goes into panic mode, running about the house knocking things over and pooping all over the place....

What about your kitties?

All my dogs, and most of my cats, have been outside pets. The dogs usually hid in their doghouses during summer thunderstorms, or ran to us if we were out in the yard or on the patio. On Independence Day, I used to sit out in the back yard and watch the fireworks from the baseball stadium (and the neighborhood), with Midnight sitting under my lawn chair where I could rub her head.

The three year-groups of cats tha sleep on my patio don't seem bothered by thunder and lightning, although they do tend to clump together on my lounge chair and under the picnic table benches when it rains.

Thank you so much, Julie. It is a quality I am sorely lacking in at times.

I am afraid when the time does come, I shall be a basket case.

Not a kitty song, really.

But something you must come to know that is coming soon.

If you want an explanation, it shall have to be offline.

PM me. I can not any longer express my true thoughts on the boards.

You been there?

You may have known my very long expression of my love for the Strange Cats man, Setzer.

Oh, and F me kindly to the few folks that seem to take exception to my every post. Not meant for you, of course. Too good for you.....LOL.

Too few folks take the real time to analyze my history..
If you only did.......you might know me better.
And that might be good or, it might be bad, if you are prejudiced against me.

I have been accused of same.

But, just to give you a counterpoint, here is a version done by the master himself, Les Paul. Done in New York, where he spent his last few years, enjoying his last few accolades.

Only Setzer did it better.......

The original version.

Some day this may vanish too.\\
But not soon, stored in my memory 'till I die.
Sleep with the kitties.
And you wonder why I quote this song so often.......LOL.

Meow.

High school.......yeah.

Anybody remember this?
It was just short of an initiation right.
The Stroll.

Never got a gurl to take my hand that night.

Pricks all hated me because I hated them.
I went to her house and her dad said to never come back there again.

Remember Christine? I do.
She was beautiful. Her father did not want to let her go. Ever.
She is probably still in the garage out back. Sad.

I knew them all for what they were. They hated me for my knowledge of that.

SO, I tried, but the gurl I picked chickened out at the last second.

That was my last try at a social experiment.

So, how did I meet Lori, I hear you ask.

That is a bit of chance and God's grace, I guess.

We were simply destined/.

Good or bad, there was nothing either of us could do about it.

She was abused by her ex. Badly. Broke her face./
A year or two before I met her.
He also broke into my house and robbed me./
Threw a turquoise vase and broke it on my face one night I tried to visit her.

I still have a piece of that vase in my memory. It was a gift from me to her.
And my brother, jumping off of the bridge. That is burned into my memory too.

Some of you don't really understand or even care who I am or where I come from.

So, in return, I give you the same.

And you wonder why I retreat In my own little chair.

Just as long as I stay in my own little corner........just as long as I stay in my own little chair.

Seems some wish me to stay in my own little corner.
All alone, in my own little chair.

I can stay there, if that's what you want.

Broke the back window out of my car one night as I slept with her.

He is deceased now, so I shall not speak more of him.

Then, her life came around, and I happened to be there when it did.
Glory. I have been blessed since.

Although I am not the perfect lover, I do love her like nobody on this planet ever has.

She knows that.......although a little hard to take at times.
