Server Status page shows green, but every Scheduler request for the last 3.5 hours has resulted in "Scheduler request failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer".

Oh, great.
A new year, the coldest night of the winter so far here (-3f), and the servers go down.
GPUs are starting to cool down already.

Meowsigh.

But, Happy New Year anyway!

My machine had at Jan/01/2013 02:45:25 UTC the last scheduler server contact.

My BOINC have SAH GPU WUs for the next ~ 9 hours, for the CPU much more/longer.
Then maybe secondary projects - if noone checked/rebooted the server in the meantime ..
Hmm .. - no panic here.

A Happy New Year to all.

'postid=1320226'
Due to lab-wide electrical repairs there will be a complete power outage from January 4th to January 6th, during which all our servers will be unreachable. We are also having our server closet air conditioner repaired, and will be completely off line from January 14th to January 15th.

Does this mean (from - to):

Fr Jan/04 - 17:00 UTC
Sa Jan/05
Su Jan/06
Mo Jan/07 - 17:00 UTC

.. and ..

Mo Jan/14 - 17:00 UTC
Tu Jan/15
We Jan/16 - 17:00 UTC

.. or is someone at Jan/06 & Jan/15 in the lab and switch on all server at the late afternoon/in the night and checked if everything start well?

Actually, the server doesn't hold on to anything - it simply doesn't send a reply at all. The timeout is how long your client is prepared to wait - and (in recent versions), it's configurable.

If you're running v6.12.27 or later, check out <http_transfer_timeout> in client configuration - options.

Note that this will affect uploads/downloads as well, and that sometimes both scheduler contacts and data transfers do eventually work after a long pause. Use at your own discretion.

Here is actually some room for new feature. I would like to have separate time out for the scheduler transaction and separate for the uploads/downloads. Let's say 300s for the scheduler and 120s for the download/upload transaction.

Very good news!
Everything works as it "should":
- Uploads without timeouts
- Downloads as requested
31.12.2012 10:32:19 | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
31.12.2012 10:32:19 | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for ATI
31.12.2012 10:34:10 | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 20 new tasks
31.12.2012 10:34:12 | SETI@home | Started download of 09oc12ad.8746.67.12.10.98

Great last day of this year. Let the next year start like this!

Now I'm quite sure: I bewitched SETI. But I promise, I'll never do that again!

Happy New Year to everybody!

Weekly Outage and Initial Catch Up - warning, at the 1st page.

This is an automatically info, or today someone will make the weekly server maintenance?

Edit: Should have looked at the cricket graph, seems everything has stopped!!

Server Status page hasn't updated since 02:50:23 UTC

Moaning less about server errors is a good new years resolution...

Ah, Seti has come to a halt completely.

Happy 2013 everyone anyway :-)

Yesterday morning it was 22, this morning, 73 Ready to Reports. An Omen?
Notice how the Upload Server is still working fine. The Upload Server always worked fine during other SNAFUs which made last weeks Upload server problem unusual. Another Omen? :-) Whatever...

Happy New Year.

Here is hoping all have a Happy New Year.

Hopefully the Kitties have all your machines running Einstein for their backup project to get that heat flowing.

Maybe we can get Einstein to 1 Petaflop during the outages.

Started a couple of rigs back on Einstein, but they don't generate as much heat as optimized Seti.
Had to start the furnace this morning for the first time this year. (Was -6f here this morning.)

Got my rigs setup on Einstein as well now. Can you run more than one WU at a time like with S@H?

And is there an optimized app for it?
