The bandwith cap to 100Mb is probably the first step. Chris: I don't think grateful is the right word. Satisfied works better. The flaw in your 50 vs. 100 comparison is that the increase in bandwidth has been greatly surpassed by the increase in demand, driven by better-performing computers. Al Capone: how does it hurt you if you don't get any work? If you intended that as a threat -- "Give me more work or I'll leave and not do any for you" -- sorry, but they won't miss you. The bandwith cap to 100Mb is probably the first step. Beacuse i havn't had anything to complain about earlier. |

The bandwith cap to 100Mb is probably the first step. Sorry to hear, if that's what they feel there soon will be no one left to lend them time and computing power. |

Except for the majority of current users, who never look closely at their stats, never view these forums, and are blissfully ignorant of all the alleged problems here. And in any case, Chris and I (and a few others) will always be here. Al Capone, if you don't like what is happening here, there are lots of other projects that would love to use your computing power. Be warned though, they are all just as prone to problems and interruptions as S@H. |

Not interested in any other projects. I like to think that we are not alone in the universe that's why i joined S@H in the beginning. And behold one of my computer just got one Astroplulse WU to chew on ;-) There is still hope for mankind. :-) |

It seems that the Seti Project is dying. No, definitively not! It has too many lives! The bandwith cap to 100Mb is probably the first step. First step to what? To death? Wrong! It's a snapshot of the present and describes the situation we have at the moment. I havn't recieved any new WU´s to process. This may be true, but the "fault" could be on your side! If this will continue for much longer i will delete my SETI account on all my computers. You're free to leave the project if you want. But you're also free to rejoin it later! |

Wanna bet? There's a lot of possible reasons for why this project may fail, but for the want of volunteers to crunch work units comes below that of actually finding an intelligent extraterrestrial signal. |

Just a confirmation on WUs. I just completed receiving 20 of them right now. Speed was roughly 20K/sec as the gigE graph still shows 100% utilization. However, they are being fed out! So stay in line and you will get some eventually. :) |

Here it is Wednesday morning (Jan 23) and for the first time since the air conditioner outage 10 days ago I have no WUs trying to download. It was a frustrating 10 days as so many of these posts have noted -- and I'll admit I didn't think I'd ever get back to a "normal" work cache and was pretty sure the usual Tuesday outage would back things up even more. So, congratulations on whatever you guys did abd keep up the good work. |

Question: Is it perfectly normal for transfer speeds to be around 5kbps and a maximum of 2 concurrent transfer at the same time? |

Question: Is it perfectly normal for transfer speeds to be around 5kbps and a maximum of 2 concurrent transfer at the same time? 'concurrent' is user configurable, but 2 is the default. Transfer speed is whatever the server can send when overloaded - 5kbs sounds about right for the SETI project, most of the time. But please ask questions in one of the discussion fora, not a news thread - unless it directly relates to the subject of the news post. |

I hate to make more work for the staff, but I think the scheduler is having one of it's snits again, as I write... I've tried to update on three different computers and get "Scheduler request failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer" each time, whether the computer is just reporting completed tasks or is also requesting new tasks... . I think the SETI project needs a complete equipment and/or program overhaul. This "works one day and not the next" is getting out of hand. |

Ladies and Gents, The place to discuss the current performance of the servers is in "number crunching", not a news thread relating to an event of a few weeks back. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

(With an estimate of 2.5 minutes, you must have high-end nVidia Keppler(s)!) The same overhere: My card is a GTX690 it could crunch per 24h upto 4600 WUs Per WU aprox 2,5min workingtime // setup to crunch 8 WUs simultaneous. To not waist GPU time iam using as backup Collatz Conjecture for the time i dont get S@H work.. |

Head off to number crunching where you will find a thread about the current server behaviour. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |
