I posted before reading your post. Which numbers are being used by a possible extraterrestrial intelligence or precence when it comes to communication? In the end, the more numbers (or lines) being returned fills out the empty lines in our current knowledge even though not everything is returning something of particular interest. Those numbers who do not become readily accepted are part of this puzzle which slowly is being filled in at its empty points and subsequently being explained and interpreted by the Seti@home scientists (including astronomers). |

The problem is that there should be no denial. The question is all about contact and mutual recognition. Who is going to to initiate such a contact? Should I perhaps put away the beverage on the upcoming New Years' Eve and rather keep a watch on the nightly sky (which very well may be obscured by clouds). My best guess is that last year's New Year celebration was shared locally with someone else (Chinese lights) who later left the party as peacefully and gracefully as when they arrived. You guessed me right. I do have a video camera recorder. Perhaps it is time to unpack it and get it operational once again - only 8 days or so left. |

Fortunately its highly unlikely that there is any intelligent life near enough to make it here. Habitable planets does not necessarily equal intelligent life. Remember, this planet has not have intelligent life on it for most of its history. No, it is highly unlikely. Even further on, unless there is some sort of FTL travel, we won't be getting any visitors. Reality Internet Personality |

Fortunately its highly unlikely that there is any intelligent life near enough to make it here. We don't know that for sure Es. There are a few star systems fairly close that are now being said to have habitable planets. If they have the means to use faster than light travel, which Einstein may have got wrong, then who knows. You cannot rule it out. Define highly unlikely?? Not likely in my or your lifetime, but further on, yes quite possible. @Julie - I still believe they were here before. |

Remember how well it went for the Native Americans when the Europeans discovered America? I reckon it will go pretty much the same way if Alien Intelligence every finds us. Fortunately its highly unlikely that there is any intelligent life near enough to make it here. Reality Internet Personality |

Well Setizens, I am happy to say publicly that I support ID's defence of Mark. Our Kittyman has his demons to contend with, and occasionally rightly goes on vacation for specific actions which he is fully aware of. The boundaries are there for good reason and will remain in place. But he has also done much good here as well. Hence the entry in my sig which I don't usually use in the Politics forum. "none so blind as those who will not see" (John Heywood 1546) Don't drink water, that stuff rusts pipes! You are making Proof out of Logic, by just being dubious! {Bluestar to me) |

No worries, mates. I am used to having a bit of dung flung my way now and again, seeing as how more than a few of my opinions are at times 'out there'. If I were truly offended, I would not post those opinions in the first place. But I also find at times that more people than I might suspect find some of my ideas and opinions interesting and food for further thought on their part. And it's because of them that I continue to share what I think with all of you. May you all continue to have a great holiday season, and may the coming New Year see us all healthy and happy and interested enough to continue our search here at Seti. I'll keep my boots on as I wander through the cow pasture. "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow." Albert Einstein "With cats." kittyman

If there was such life that could travel and or, manipulate the fabric of space time to move great distances, what makes you think they would stop off here? Mark also has the RIGHT to believe. I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with you uncaring, selfish, mean-spirited, cliquish, pieces of dung making sport of Mark. Had this be done in the hallways of my school when I was a child in my teens Id have dropped you all and took the fives days off. Never did I treat anyone this way nor did I allow it. For the above reasons advanced life would not have stopped off here. As to the question if I was advanced life what would I leave behind so the life left behind would find us.... ...nothing but Paley's Watch |

Have a Merry Christmas! And the same seasons greetings back to you my good Sir :-) @Julie - needs a little pinch of salt I think. Have the buildings ruins been carbon dated to 200,000 BC? if they have, then that really is amazing. But given the site, you do wonder. If you were an ET, and you were here in the past, you might likely want to leave some sort of message, to tell people in the future of your visit. But you also might want to do that in such a way, that they wouldn't be able to find it or decipher it, until they were advanced enough to fully understand the implications. So what would you leave behind??? |

Quite right there, Chris. You need to be a believer when it comes to the subject of UFO's. Fixed your link, MP. @Chris: Quite an amazing story! rOZZ Music Pictures |

Perhaps I should tell you a little secret since it is coming up on Christmas. Or rather a story from my childhood. I was about 6 years old. At that time I was living in the city of Bergen, Norway. This because my father has been born in this city. On the top of a hill above where my home was located, there was a building project of several high-rised buildings, some 13 floors. Together with my even younger brother, who was not as brave or bold as myself, I went inside one of these buildings and chose to take the elevator to the uppermost floor. When getting out of the elevator, to my surprise there was no opening hatch or keylock on the outside of the elevator door. Therefore I chose to walk the stairs down to the first floor. When I arrived down at the first floor, I came across an outdoor entrance or corridor. With the help of one of the construction workers, I was lifted down to the ground and safety. Apparently quite an experience for a 6 year old boy. Please do not let this story get into your mind, Chris. Such things happen when you are young and want to find out something. Most likely you learn something from such experiences as well. Have a Merry Christmas! P.S. Perhaps this story rather should have been posted in the Cafe. |

Quite right MP! As I have often said, virtually all supposed UFO phenomenons can be simply explained, but there does seem stuff up there in the skies that defies rational comprehension. The fifth columnists in the world want us to believe it is all a conspiracy and a government cover up, but they have their own agenda of course. I have always believed that there are, and have been, ET's, but it won't be discovered, verified, and confirmed in my lifetime I'm quite sure of that. It's like religion, in the face of a lack of evidence, you either believe or you don't, your personal choice. |

So sit back and lemme tell you a story, about a 3 hour cruise star trekkin' across the universe, McCoy, Spock and Captain Kirk on a mission, 'cuz they thought (as taught in school that) JFK was some kind of jerk. But that hypocite smoked 3 packs a day! BUSTED! |

There are many conspiracy theories, non proven. No, no! I've proven this one! Really! It was even foretold in the Book of the Annunaki! |
