I grew up eating peanut butter and liversausage sandwiches, and sandwiches with three or four kinds of lunch meat and cheese with butter on one slice of bread and peanut butter on the other. Still do, when I get the urge..... Almost forgot - peanut butter and bacon, on bread or a well-buttered biscuit. When I was stationed at Pearl Harbor (1975-1979 and 1985-1988) there was a bar in the Pearl City area (Pirate Bully Hayes' Place) that served 1/2-pound burgers and 1/4-pound hot dogs with a condiment tray that included catsup, mustard, Mayo, pickle relish, creamy peanut butter, and chopped macadamia nuts. I only tried the peanut butter on my hotdog w/cheese or my cheeseburger, but some of my shipmates put ALL of it on theirs. Submarine sailors, go figure... And there used to be a burger joint here in town that served a cheeseburger with Thai spice rub on the burger pattie and creamy peanut butter spread on both buns. Kinda like cashew chicken, but you needed a lot of napkins. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Almost forgot - peanut butter and bacon, on bread or a well-buttered biscuit. Now that's one I'll have to try. |

What the hell is "jet-puffed marshmallow creme"! The inside of a marshmallow, in a spreadable form. In other words, 98% sugar and 2% some oil byproduct to hold it all together. With peanut butter it is heaven on bread. Purists will insist that it has to be white bread, for the best effect. BTW, peanut butter mixed with corn syrup has a similar flavour, but it is too runny to make a good sandwich. It is great on ice cream though, or straight off a spoon. |

Phew! these odd combination of foods have traditional connotations you know :-))) Never tried PB on Celery! That's the only way I get my kids to eat celery. It's a great snack to leave on the table. It seems to disappear. Well this is not really a sandwich but it's one of my favorite ways to eat peanut butter. Melt it and pour over popcorn. Peanut Butter Popcorn Balls!! |
