I reckon it's a nutmeg grater as well, but Ang beat me to it :-)

And you beat me to saying that.

Thank you for the win.

Ok, friends, I'm pretty sure this one is going to stump you.

This plate could hold a number of food items, but it was actually "designed" to hold one thing in particular. The nickel is there for size. The raccoon, the third and final one I can feature from my Russian Lomonosov porcelain raccoon collection, is there for your amusement.

For what purpose was this plate designed?

Bonus points if you can guess the manufacturer and the year...

@#$(*&^%$@#$%^&*&^%$#@!@#$%^&*(*&^%$#@#$%^&*&^%$#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just checking this thread on my lunch hour and blast it... Mr. Mercer has won it again!!! Gosh darn it!!! I thought that one would keep you folks guessing for days.

Yes, it is a lemon plate for holding slices of lemon to float in your cup of afternoon tea. And yes, it is Noritake. He found the exact plate.

I host afternoon tea every year in honor of all of my aunties, and my mother-in-law gave me that lemon plate to add to my collection of silly little tea things.

P.M. going out to our uber-guesser now.

Thanking youz... Its unique shape made it easier to find than the simple metal box.

Hopefully this is a bit of challenge. It is a picture of two of the devices, only one is need to do its thing.
