It is for cutting the pit from a mango. I would not buy one Carlos, because mangoes come in such different sizes. I would prefer a knife to dispatch each mango individually.

Wise advice and the correct answer.

Thank you for the win.

Contrary to what my staging of the above picture may indicate, the primary purpose of this vessel is NOT to serve as a container for raccoon kibble.

Although it could be used to hold many things, what is this vessel designed specifically to hold?

Nope. Jams and jellies COULD go in there, but that is not the primary purpose.

Sorry. Artichoke leaves is an incorrect guess.

Eric thought this one would be easy but I thought it might stump people. Tee-hee-hee, giggle-giggle!

I have a more modern set of these dishes and you probably would have guessed its use immediately if I had posted a picture of one of my modern ones. This particular example is "vintage" and, I thought, less obvious.

It is an individual serving dish that holds a specific food.

(I have to go now, but I'll check back in later...)

Is it for a certain fruit and ice cream treat, with 3 scoops, whipped cream and a cherry?

A banana split boat?

And we have a winner!!! It is, in fact, called a banana split boat, but since I only asked what goes in it, I am giving this win to Carlos.

Busted! I tried not to win that one. Need to read the question a little closer. Well looks like I got two, Kitchen and Landscape. Not quite Angela's record of all 3 but close.

So here is something that has been on my kitchen counter for over 30 years. I remember the day I bought it at the Cetacean Institute's Whale Museum on San Juan Island, WA. So tell me. What is it for?
