Scheduler crashes have continued, so we'll be down until we've isolated and solved the problem.

Thanks for letting us know. Not the most welcome news, but I think we half expected it and you've given it your best shot. Have a great weekend, and let's hope it all looks easier on Monday morning.

Before you leave, it might be wise to check round the rest of the system and batten the hatches down securely. For example, I have a feeling the splitters didn't get a 'stop' message during the first scheduler outage, and carried on filling up storage: we had a lot more tasks 'ready to send' than the normal high water mark, when you brought Synergy up yesterday.

Looking at the other Project status page, which does seem to be up to date, there is 306,417 tasks ready to send, which doesn't sound too bad, If it is accurate of cause,

Wow. This is so ironic!! I have been away from Seti for a few years, and was reminded by a news piece that Seti was still operating. I re-opened my account, and it was STILL WORKING! Yay, I thought...
It ran for 3 whole days.
Now it's crashed.

I hope I didn't do it. :-( (ok, wink)

Realmente, é triste estar no projeto e de repente ele começar a seguir falhas.
Faça o melhor que puder Eric, estamos no aguardo aqui no Brasil também ;)

The project's been rather unreliable lately, partly due to inadequate bandwidth on its connection to the internet.

I was away from the project for about 10 years before I returned; so much information about my old account lost that it looks unlikely that I will be able to correct the date when I started. I was probably using an analog modem, not a direct internet connection, back then.

Who's the system administrator on the project?

Seems your always having crashes and problems. A lot of us out here could help solve configuration issues if there were a good source on your configurations with system details.

I run Einstein as well. They seemingly have a better group or configuration.

I worry SETI is just a part time job for some of your people. There are a lot of things that seem to go wrong every weekend, holiday, or three day period.Eric I do appreciate your dedication. To bad
SETI at home it is so underfunded and staffed lightly.

A conference to discuss SETI and technology as well as whether the analysis path pursued is still viable or do we need a shift in overall approach to maximize the utility of you SETI volunteer corps.. Given a rudimentary analysis of Earth's radio frequency history (we go from Broadband Noise pulse generation to Digital Microwave inside of a 100 years) you realize other civilizations might only use RF for communications for a very short window in time. Even if the signals are floating around out there time coincidence is very unlikely and probability of intercept very low low indeed. Then propagation distance means any intercepted signals would be so far back in time that we'd be unlikely and unable to communicate back within any reasonable period to establish a comm channel.

Perhaps looking at advanced communication methods like lasers, or even neutrino emissions might be promising.. Don't know the answer only that our RF search has som many "depends on" that it's probability is very very unlikely.

Hate to be a pesimist but....

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Will still crunch..

Never engage stupid people at their level, they then have the home court advantage.....

Thanks for the information. One of my S@H tasks is UPLOADING, but seems doesn't seem to be making any (Visible) Progress. Could the two situations be related? ..... or could it just be that it is taking time due to Size of File, and the Fact that this Computer (HP Notebook) is only running 2GB RAM?
I am only Running Seti@Home on this System, and Only One Workunit is Running at one time. It's not interferring with my Operations or causing any other issues with my System, it's just that I'm curious about the reason, and if it's Normal for Uploads to take some tome to happen. This is the first Task I have actually been able to pay particular attention to during Uploading: Others have happened when I'm not in front of My Monitor, or when I don't have BOING Manager Screen Visible.
