Putting to one side this Electoral College thing, the country voted virtually 50/50 for the two candidates. Hardly surprising then that 1/2 the country is unhappy. If we get a hung parliament we can have a coalition, your system doesn;t allow that. Its a voting system by politicians, for politicians. But then again, most state governors run their patch like a private estate, whoever the president is. The basis for counting presidential election votes has been unchanged since 1972. The last significant changes to election system in the US were the 17th Amendment (direct election of Senators, 1913), the 19th Amendment (Women's right to vote, 1920) and the 26th Amendment (Voting age set to 18, 1971). If anything, the Electoral College inflated the number of pro Romney delegates, Wyoming will send 3 pro Romney delegates, where he collected 170,365 votes (56,788 1/3 votes/delegate), whereas California will send 55 pro Obama delegates, where he collected 5,658,572 votes (102,833 votes/delegate), and New York will send 29 pro Obama delegates, where he collected 3,873,680 votes (133,575 votes/delegate). Winning the majority of the popular vote nationally is not a requirement for winning the votes of Electoral College delegates (e.g. Bush 2000), though it helps, and Obama did both. Your comments about Governors appear to be based on a misunderstanding of how the States of the Union operate. An approximation might be your Mayor of London. Similarly your statements about a "hung parliament" also appear to be based on a misunderstanding of how the US Congress operates, where it is possible for a 3rd party to have the balance of power and form a coalition. I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

50% unhappy? read a good part of the south is still very very racist. Like many animals Racists learned you can't walk down the street screaming racial epitaphs at people and get away with it. Racism has take a much more subtle tone. Its there, just waiting. A close friend of my mothers. Preaches love kindness forgiveness charity as a nice older baptist lady. When it came to the candidates she hated Romney with every fiber of her being. Untrustworthy, slimy, and shifty were words used. She still voted for him though. Couldnt bring herself to vote for a black man. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

It seems to me, that a few on the dem side of the fence, now feel free to be rather proud now that their chosen [expletive deleted] has won. And they wish to think their views are always correct and give no second ground to others. That is the way of the dems, I guess. And the way Obama is taking....... Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. Usual directives in play, I suppose.. Spin it to the hubs, captain..... "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow." many white guys (and everything else) learn, grow, adapt. As we get older we tend to adapt less, and where we came from seems to carry more weight than where we can go. So the moral of the story: you may no longer lead the herd. Let someone else take the lead for a while. And watch as things move forward beyond your expectations. And if people even START to treat others fairly.. wow what a day. Janice |

It's about time everyone woke up & let the past belong to its place in history...The Past. We absolutely must be accountable for the sins of our fathers, going back hundreds of generations. It is the only way the system of hate works. Tolerance can not be allowed to exist. Blame must be assigned and it must be paid for over and over. It is obvious that you don't have a clue about the reasons that the courts in America have cited for programs such as affirmative action to exist, or the Robin Hood entitlements. They of course also validate the hatred between the Arab and the Jew. Hate is how you obtain power. Power is to be desired above all else, even money. Hate is the Power! and the glory forever. Amen.

It's about time everyone woke up & let the past belong to its place in history...The Past. Incorrect - what we must do is "not to repeat the mistakes of the past". 2 different things altogether. |

Seems an appropriate time to post this: White people mourning romney Let me remind you, my grandparents on my father's side immigrated from Germany..LEGALLY. My mother's ancestry is Dutch. I have stated here many times that I have no problem with immigrants. Just the ILLEGAL ones. "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow." Albert Einstein "With cats." kittyman
