I think real life has enough trials and tribulations without interjecting fake gender crap into it.

Until you experience it, how do you know it is fake?

Angela speaks the truth.

I'll be going to an annual party soon and will again see Carl/Christine and her wife. Yes, legal marriage. I know Christine has been through hell. Her wife a lot of that too. I wish Mark could sit down with them for an hour or two and hear about their life. He might begin to understand then.

Our problem Mark is that we're of the same generation, taught right from wrong & also taught that to get what you want in life takes hard work.

Unfortunately, there are now too many in the world that want what we have, but without working for it & when they can't have it, throw tantrums.....

...& therein lies the problem.

Our glorious "governers", to protect themselves & their snouts at the various troughs, gives it to them & castigate people like us when we complain....

..we become dinosaurs/racists/anarchists/commies/enemies of the state....

.....and whatever other labels they can come up with!

I'm probably going to get roasted for this.....

Comapssion is all good & proper, however, gender changes should not be paid for by the taxpayer.

You wanna be a girl/man, cough up the cash!

YOU are freaking toast, man.

But, I like your cajones for saying so.
Unless you want to exchange them for some other things.

Just don't do it at my expense, and I shall have a go at it when you get back.....LOL.

Sorry, I draw a fine line here.
Elective surgery is NOT something I think should be covered for all.

Hey, my penis is a bit small.......cover that bit too, because I feel insecure about it?
Won't cost much to fix, a few thousand should make it right.

That guy with fake tits? That might take a bit more.

Do I begrudge him/her/whatever that?

YES. I do. Sorry if I am not politically correct.
I am reality based. So few people are these days.

Hello Friends,

I am reposting something that was justifiably hidden by a moderator, not because my post was not "kid friendly", but rather because I made the mistake of quoting another poster who used a hate term. I took some time crafting my response and wanted it to stand. I realize by reposting this it is out of order. Please mentally re-insert this post into yesterday's exchanges.

Angela K.

Mark, my friend, you often ask others to understand you in light of the hellish things that life and fate have tossed your way. I do... well at least most of the time I try to. And so now I ask a favor of you.

Try to imagine life as a person who completely and totally feels he (or she) is in the wrong sex body. Imagine the social stigma that might occur from making those feelings public. Imagine how members of the public, and even family and friends who love you dearly might judge and misjudge you. Imagine the years of therapy people would push you to have. Imagine going through decades and decades of social pressure, coupled with decades and decades of still feeling like you are in the wrong body. On top of this, imagine facing years of hormone injections and a surgery that most would not consider to be... uh... "recreational".

Mark, how can you possibly think that a transgender person takes decisions like having a sex change operation lightly or that life as a transgender person is even remotely easy in our culture?

Now then, if you can possibly see this issue from a different vantage point, does it surprise you that this medical procedure might be covered by an insurance plan somewhere? It is not like people are going to be lining up around the block for this surgery. It is a surgery that may be medically warranted for some people some of the time. Such is the stuff ALL insurance plans are made of!!!

I beg you, Mark, to strive to exercise the same compassion for others that you so frequently beg us to exercise for you.

That is actually very interesting Skil.

USA
2012 57.5%
2008 62.3%
2004 60.4%
2000 54.2%

UK
2010 65.1%
2005 61.4%
2001 59.4%
1997 71.4%
1992 77.7%
1987 75.3%
1983 72.7%

Seems the world is now turned off by politics. Perhaps if politicians behaved in a more moral and decent fashion, the public might get engaged again.

Your comments about Governors appear to be based on a misunderstanding of how the States of the Union operate. An approximation might be your Mayor of London.

I do admit that I don't fully understand the USA system of elections with Primaries and the Electoral College. Our Mayor of London is a fairly recent experiment. We have always had a Lord Mayor which is mainly a ceremonial position, but not a working Mayor as such. What worries a lot of us is that through MOPAC, the Mayor will be directly accountable for police performance in the capital, setting the Met Police’s strategic direction and allocating resources. Operational policing will however remain the responsibility of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner.

I don't think it right that politics should come into policing. However it was seen that having a Mayor worked in New York, so we are trying it here. We will see.

Similarly your statements about a "hung parliament" also appear to be based on a misunderstanding of how the US Congress operates, where it is possible for a 3rd party to have the balance of power and form a coalition.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Has it ever happened?

After the 2010 UK election, no party won the 326 seats necessary from the 650 seats available, to form a majority government.

Tory 306 seats, 36%
Labour 259 seats, 29%
Lib Dem 57 seats, 23%

But look at the map above for land mass, 2/3 of the country voted Tory yet only achieved 1/3 of the popular vote. Much like your land mass results where 2/3 of the USA voted Romney but Obama won. We are having Boundary changed proposed and there are thoughts of increasing the college numbers for middle America. I don't think that either of our electoral systems truly reflect the wishes of the people. Then again we only get 60% turnouts, what do you get?

we get about the same if not a bit lower
