It does seem that the BBC is in significantly more trouble than I realised or foresaw. That is a lose/lose situation for everybody.

Now that I was not expecting. The problem with the BBC is not the organisation itself but the people in it, for example, Schofield was way out of line.

Unfortunately, there are too many with that attitude within the BBC, which is why I titled the thread that way.

Personally, i see the BBC as a grand old Dame of broadcasting with its achievements something to be proud of.

However, in the 21st century & it's current attitude - it's time for it to go - Unless someone comes in & shakes the damn tree loose!

I think we should all just calm down, and stop getting hyped up by the media. It would also help to refrain from quoting Bud Flannagan songs. Yes it was a shame that Clive Dunn died, even so.

BBC political editor Nick Robinson has been told by the PM's aides that he is disgusted that old online gossip about some politicians covering up the fact they were gay was now being associated with the serious crime of child abuse. During the live interview, the presenter Mr Schofield, handed the PM a card with a list of names on it, saying that they were people Mr Cameron knew and asking whether he would be talking to them.

Mr Cameron, who did not look at the names, replied with a warning: "There is a danger, if we're not careful, that this could turn into a sort of witch-hunt, particularly against people who are gay and I'm worried about the sort of thing you are doing right now - giving me a list of names that you've taken off the internet." Mr Cameron said that if anyone had any information about anyone who was a paedophile "no matter how high up in British society they are - that's what the police are for".

A No 10 source also described the decision to hand Mr Cameron the list of names as a "silly stunt" and "irresponsible". Mr Schofield, who first rose to fame on children's TV, later apologised if the names on the card could be seen by viewers because of a "misjudged camera angle". "If any viewer was able to identify anyone listed, I would like to apologise and stress that was never my intention. I was not accusing anyone of anything and it is essential that it is understood that I would never be part of any kind of witch-hunt."

You can't know for sure but on this occasion one would have expected that
the "Security" chaps would have supplied any information about these
investigators that may have bought their integrity into question....we can
only hope....I expect the "Minister" may have a line to put on this.

The problem here though Nick is "WHO" will be doing the investigating?

As the North Wales care homes scandal has highlighted: - Police, Judges, Solicitors, MP's - How do we know that those investigating these issues are not of the same bent?

Edit: I'm wondering if William Hague had any inkling of this & if he did, why didn't he act on it?

There may be a chance that Cameron feels the investigations may be touching
on very innocent people. I haven't heard of this situation so far, but
this whole shebang needs an utter routing even if the not guilty get dragged
in to the affray....it's the only way.

What!! they want to be able to buy two houses in London at the tax payers
expense then? Having all these politicians now has got to be old hat. The
local councils should be able to deal with all the paraphernalia that the
residence go to see their M.P's about. The old system has been running for too
long now so needs an overhaul, a new way.

Just like the BBC due for a very long-overdue overhaul. Ban soaps, ban reality
shows and ban politicians from ever speaking on the T.V ever again....the tele
is for entertainment purposes and politicians are not entertainers. There we go,
a new vision for the BBC, to be informative, entertaining and totally
independent of view and of any outside influences too....sounds like the BBC of
about 50 years ago then.
