Message 1284972 - Posted: 17 Sep 2012, 21:41:57 UTC - in response to Message 1284577.

I have this MB6_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r390,2 AKv8 SSE3 MB and Boinc.exe too.
And i have 1 WU runing and it says (0.05CPU+1 ATI GPU) but i noted that only runs about 1 minute and then stops (awaiting execution). What is wrong here?

Most likely too much of the 256 MB of RAM assigned to the GPU is being used by the OS to allow the ATI OpenCL app to run, so it does a temporary exit hoping that the situation will improve.

If there's a system configuration which would give more RAM to the GPU, it might be worth trying. OTOH with only 1GB RAM on the system, already having 1/4 of the RAM assigned to the GPU may be somewhat restrictive. Probably upgrading the system to more RAM (if possible) would make sense.

It may be possible to run the MB OpenCL app with only 256MB for the GPU, but you'd need to avoid other things which tend to use significant amounts of GPU resources. Windows 7 Starter Edition doesn't have Aero, so the usual advice to turn it off doesn't apply. I don't know what other adjustments are possible, perhaps reducing display color depth to 16 bit...

All the in progress tasks for the system were sent to be done by the GPU. I suggest you change your project preferences to not accept any more ATI GPU work (Use ATI GPU no). If you can't get the GPU processing working, you could then Reset the project from BOINC Manager which would delete those tasks but not remove the app_info.xml or Lunatics apps. Then the next work request would resend those "lost" tasks but assign them to CPU.

There's no guarantee that AKv8b2 will run more successfully than stock 6.03 did, but it seems worth a try.

It is normal 1 vlar taking 11h to complete 54% and still remaining 9h to reach 100% ????

On the Stock 6.03 MB app?, probably normal, Raistmer's C-60 is doing Normal AR Wu's in around 10Hrs with the AKv8 SSE3 MB, expect the Stock 6.03 to take twice as long,

Claggy

I just installed lunatics, now then what i have to do? Boinc is running but nothing about lunatics........

Look in Task Manager, an AKv8 app should be running instead of the setiathome_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe app,

and on your Boinc startup messages there should be a line that says:

16-Sep-2012 16:25:18 [SETI@home] Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform

If i want to install lunatics in this pc what do you recomend? I saw severals app and i am confused.

If you're talking about the C60 APU, I'd Grab the 32bit 0.40 Lunatics installer, run it and install the AMD SSE3 app and the OpenCL ATI Astropulse v6 app for the GPU,
then once you're seen that the CPU app works, then i would upgrade the OpenCL ATI AP app to the latest version (r1363) rather than the old r555 version.

It is any way of using the GPU without installing any kind of application like lunatics?

There are now Stock OpenCL AP apps available for ATI & Nvidia, you're just got to make sure you have recent enough drivers and that AstroPulse v6 and 'Use ATI GPU' are selected in your project preferences,

Yes, you should get work automatically. But with your ATI GPUs, for the time being it'll be Astropulse work only - and that's only available intermittently.

And if it was your pc, claggy? This pc it is very slow for those config dont you thnk?

I have slow PCs too, all CPUs are always @100%, GPU (crunching Milkyway) is pushed via app_info as high as the screen lag is acceptable, which is in this case somewhere between 97-99%. So the recommended by claggy should be OK.

As far as I can see you are using only the CPU for crunching on this machine, that can be always @100% without that you should notice anything (on properly build/cooled systems), GPU crunching might need to be throttled a little if standard settings lead to screen lag. So the recommended by claggy should be OK for now.

My Atom N450 is slower than your C-60 APU, and runs very similar preferences, the only difference being 'Suspend work while computer is on battery power? is set to yes'

BOINC on a battery............
I run several optimized LUNAICs app.s for CPU; SSE3/SSSE3x/SSE3+AVX and
ATI/AMD and NVIdia GPUs.
Even on my HP LT with a T2400 CPU and 7400GT graphic card. Too old also
heat problems on an LT so it's not being used to crunch.

The (anonymous) optimized app.s more then doubles the amount of work
processed whithout overstressing CPU and/or GPU (APU also).
I run them several years non stop, only an Update requiering a
reBOOT is one exception.

Haven't worked with APUs yet, but I'm convinced you'll benefit from
using optimized app.s, IMHO.

i just want to know how i must use the cores.

Set in your computing preferences:

Suspend work while computer is on battery power? no
Matters only for portable computers

Suspend work while computer is in use? no

Suspend GPU work while computer is in use? no
Enforced by version 6.6.21+

'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last 3 minutes

Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last --- minutes
Needed to enter low-power mode on some computers

Suspend work when non-BOINC CPU usage is above --- %
0 means no restriction
Enforced by version 6.10.30+

Do work only between the hours of ---
No restriction if equal

Leave tasks in memory while suspended? yes
Suspended tasks will consume swap space if 'yes'

Switch between tasks every 60 minutes
Recommended: 60 minutes

On multiprocessors, use at most 4 processors

On multiprocessors, use at most 100% of the processors
Enforced by version 6.1+

Use at most 100% of CPU time
Can be used to reduce CPU heat

It's erroring all your Wu's out with;

Funo incorrecta. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)

Try running the Optimised AMD App and see if that works,
