And although I sin.......often.
I also believe in the forgiveness his preachings promise.

And I also know that if I do not speak up for His name, neither shall he speak up for mine on the very last day.

I have mentioned my faith from time to time in the forums, and have taken grief from some for same. Oh, sigh. I can take more.....He did. Much more.

Now, shall some, take my hand and admit the Glory?

Just say yes, you need not make any exclamations of baptism or such.

Just.......say you believe. A simple testament of faith.

I shall start.

I have no problem with a Deity, absentee landlord that he is. I have a problem with people espousing God giving us freewill then them getting upset when people use that freewill. Astonishing isnt it

Yes, i also believe in God.

This beautiful Earth we live on, the world God created for us. And all the wonderful living creatures he genetically engineered, so we would not be alone in this world. Those wonderful creatures God created, every single one of them. The living creatures that roam among the living plants and trees that he created. What a wonderful world!

What some of you do not understand, or wish to, is this simple truth.

God's love for you is unconditional.
No limts, no worries.

He loves you every moment with every breath you take.
You are his children.
You are his life on this, his earth.

There is little like having that faith, that trust, if you know and believe in it.

I wish it for you all, my friends.

Oh, some of you think this all happened by chance?

Look at, for one, the chemical things that go on in the human body.
The myriad of things that simply keep us alive.
The simple exchange of oxygen with every breath we take............

No, chance did not engineer that.

No simple twist of fate.

HE did.

Unconditional? Unconditional?
Please explain why you believe there's also a place called hell.
It seems there are conditions.

Magnificient depiction of Heaven in The Book-Job: A Comedy Of Justice by Robert Heinlein.

Also, a Magnificent Depiction of Hell is also described.

Tho, Job(not name of actual lead character in book) is made a Saint, he decides to Go To Hell. Really. A much better Class Of People and The Devil is Very Helpful.

GOD in Heaven could not reunite him with The Love Of His Life. Only The Devil Could. She was not in Heaven or Hell, but something like Vahalla, and A Deal Had to be struck Amongst All The GODs(Yep, all faiths seemed to be represented with A Different GOD) with The Christian GOD being No Help, but, Deal Struck and Job had His Baby Back.

No giving up of Soul, nor Other Payments. Heaven had a Ton Of Bureaucracy and they were not nice at all, and Hell was like, well, Heaven. Hmmm.

I think I have paid back what He asked of me.
Any further debate on such shall be limited to the man above and myself.

I don't think, however interested you might me, you shall be included.

Need to know, and you simply do not need to know.
What is between my God and I......is painful to reveal. At best.

I have sins and things I would not share with the devil.

I have hinted at them on the boards. Just go to my post history......it's all there, every single post. Every one.

Now it's yours to ponder.

Um sure I believe in gods. All of 'em. Or none of 'em. Doesn't really matter.

As far as my "sins", I earned 'em and will not be deprived of 'em.

A Creator? Nah... the gods are creations of the mind.

I believe in ONE God.

Creator of heaven and earth. All powerful.
Beyond a doubt.

You don't have to run down the same road I do.

I think we might end up in the same place though, dear.

And for you, that might be a good thingy.

Who are the winners and who are the losers in this never ending battle or game?

Those who believe in God and those who don't believe in God.

Or maybe those in between - now I lost the word for this description, but you know what I mean.

Guess I am supposed to already know the answer to this subject.

It came back to me - those people are "agnostics", or agnostic people. Please correct me if necessary.

Are atheists (non-believers) more technically inclined to their subject(s) perhaps, adhering to stated principles and better able to express themselves "to the point"? An example of a believer who like myself occasionally wants to have a beer or two you may possibly know about around here.

Is there another word for "believers" - or is it all just religion?

To some people religion is the same as "jibberish" - or rather "nonsense".

Do atheists (or maybe even agnostics) always approach their subject(s) in the same way all the time?

Your opinion, please!

Maybe I should quit for now.

There are no winners or losers in this discussion.

I have stated my view.

Nobody else need believe what I believe.
Many may not.

I am no worse and they are no better if they disagree.
I have to respect that fact.

@ both William Rothamel and Mark Sattler.

I came across this thread a little earlier on, in the Science board or forum here:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=69233

Which part science is "The Ultimate science"?

Possibly Johnney Guinness meant to say "of science"...

Make a link out of this one if you bother.

Science is supposed to be carried out by means of possibly different angles of approaches to the same thing or subject, of which not all such approaches are being equally well recognized.

So please ask Johnney Guinness if he ever has heard about Erich von Däniken.

My best guess is that he is familiar with this man.

I really try to be fair, but unfortunately not everything catches my interest.

It is always the fact that lack of understanding and lack of interest are the same thing, but possibly could be put up in a different order.

But is Mr. von Däniken supposed to be recognized in the scientific field today?

Apparently not by everyone.

MusicPlayer,
Thanks, i corrected the title of that thread. Thanks for spotting my mistake!

You raise the question of Erich von Däniken. Yes, i'm very familiar with his work. He has appeared many times on Ancient Aliens on the History channel. I think some of what Erich von Däniken says is true, but i also think some of what he says is rubbish.

You are correct MusicPlayer. Science should be totally 100% impartial. That means that in any scientific debate, no matter how trivial the discussion, every possible view point should be given full consideration. But that does NOT happen today. Right now today, mainstream scientific journals are heavily swayed toward promoting Darwinian evolution theory. They give zero attention to anything or anyone that even mentions the word "God". Or anyone that scientifically investigates the biblical stories.

Of all places, science journals should be the one place where open discussion about anything should take place. But science journals will not publish anything to do with God. So from the point of view of science journals, nobody is allowed to challenge the theory of evolution, even if they have good quality scientific information.

In general, the scientific community are very cautious about Erich von Däniken because his science is considered fringe science.

An atheist is someone who is sure that there is no God. They might say that they can't prove there is no God, but they are generally happy in their conclusion that all living things on this planet "evolved" slowly over long periods of time through accidental mutations in the DNA of living things.

An Agnostic is typically impartial to God, meaning that they are not swayed either way. An Agnostic tends to sit on the fence, not bothered if there is, or isn't a God.

John.

I'm getting rather tired of these Religion threads.

All of them are the same people, saying the same things to each other, over and over like a broken record and it's obvious that neither side will convince the other to change their minds.

I acknowledge that it is a very personal subject but from the number of threads on this subject over the last 12 months everybody knows where everyone else stands on the matter, so there is no need to keep rehashing the same old stuff over and over again. At least in the political threads we have Fourth Angel and Sirius B to provide some interesting and humourous asides.

Believe or disbelieve as is your wont, I just don't care.
