Oh dear, it seems to never end.....

...now it's Apple's turn to pull their products :)

Well not for at least 60 days.

Apple is free to continue selling the models involved during the 60-day review period.

"Today's decision has no impact on the availability of Apple products in the United States," Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet said in a statement.

With all this modern technology in vehicles, think some is needed to tell drivers "not to hog the middle lane", it'll soon save them a LOT of MONEY!

What's wrong with "Middle Lane Hogging"?

That's me safe then in these......

You just need a little LA traffic. Try I-5 from just north of the I-405 junction on down to south of the SR-118 junction. Gets up to 15 lanes wide.

So lets recap here with Martin's view

85% of people wrongly think that the GPS needs an update
15% of people correctly realise that the map database needs updating.

it is the other 15% that kills you and potentially kills others...

That conclusion is illogical.

Not sure where you went to school but 85% & 15% = 100%.
So ALL road users are either confused or potential killers?

In Martins view, apparently yes. ...

And 75% of all statistics are simply made up...

Sorry to get you all so excited, the "15%" just "sounded right" and was glibly usurped :-P

Regardless of the glib statistics, we still have most drivers complacently considering themselves to be "better than average" for their assumed abilities, and suffer the resultant negligent, distracted, or simply misjudged crashes.

Are technology gadgets adding to the dangerous distraction?...

Generally speaking I would say that hey don't seem to be helping very much!

Usual silly fun then of no labels on anything and of cramming in a few extra random bits for heat and interference... Bet there's no cooling fans...

All a bit of a gamble for how to charge for the time needed to tidy up or to leave untidy to spread extra cost forever muddling through...

Unfortunately, all far too typical.

IT is very much what we make it...

Those pics remind me of one of the first patch panels I was sent out to "sort out" after the customer had "tidied it up". The "tidy up" resulted in all the cables (yes ALL) going into one half (the hot half if I recall), and none into the other half, so NOTHING worked. They had also removed all the labels, cable idents, the lot. Not only that, they had chopped off at the wall (yes, the wall) the "nasty red cables"...
OK, if there had only been a couple of dozen, but there were 8 off 64-way patch panels...
A week later I crawled out of the cupboard, two colleagues exiting from the ceiling panels and everything was working properly...

Thanks for cheering me up Rob :(

As stated the quote went in earlier this week & talking to the boss yesterday, I was told that if he considers the quote too high, he'll get the original installer to correct his errors - this was already attempted & he should have turned up on 28th May - he failed to do so as he wasn't well that day!

While the cat's away the mouse will play! Boss disappeared for a legal meeting so I checked the cabinets out. The cable installers worked from Top down so with a total of 18 data & 18 telecom the 1st floor cab is correct with one exception - 1 telecom jack not working.

Looking at the pics, I couldn't understand why only 7 connections on the ground floor TP switch when there should be 12 - 9 jacks, NAS, Router & Uplink.

Found them tucked on top of the patch panel & connected them, all 5 inactive jacks now working (not when I left though - I'll reconnect when I'm given the go-ahead).

As for the telcom jack, I unscrewed it only to find that its not connected to the telcom module but the data module. Looking at the connecter, it is only wired up to 2 pins - I thought telecoms were 4 wires - pins 2 -6?

I'm no telecoms guru & can't understand why that was done.

Wild Ass Guess, it was supposed to be for an analog line, perhaps for a fax or alarm system, something that does not go through the PBX.

If you care what it is, you would have to trace it both directions from the patch. If everything else is working, just leave it as is, perhaps with a label unknown. Might have been put in after by someone else, alarm installer?, as some kind of one off.
