If this goes ahead, then it's going to open up a pandora's box of problems! Now Cameron wants to honour all gold medallists Have no problem with this as many do deserve it. Issue no 1: OK, go ahead, THEN increase the awards for service personnel on active duty! |

If this goes ahead, then it's going to open up a pandora's box of problems! Cameron blows with the wind, will do anything if it's means cadging more votes. Anyway, are gongs really that worth having for they are 10 a penny these days just like Knighthhoods. The next trick will be for Cameron to award a gong a goal every time England scores at football, about the only way we will score any. Possibly too, a Knighthood for every successful penalty taken. Welcome to "Sunny Britain", the home of terrorists & criminals where anything goes! Another "hiccup" "It springs to my mind these people appear disposable, almost like slavery, and no-one seems to care.’ "A UK Border Agency spokesman said: ‘Each claim for settlement is considered on individual circumstances and in line with published policy." Then someone should ensure that the policy should contain some "common sense", or is that too much to expect? "Sapper Hiri’s supporters have urged David Cameron to intervene, pointing out the UKBA’s decision is at odds with the Premier’s pledge to uphold the Military Covenant, society’s duty of care to servicemen." C'mon Del-boy, get off your ass & start taking actions that count! PWDL 5113 |

Welcome to "Sunny Britain", the home of terrorists & criminals where anything goes! Shouldn't a certain Prince be charged under section 69 of the Army Act 1955 for his behavior in Las Vegas. Then it would show that virtually everyone who serves in HM Forces is a criminal, unless like me you have a LS&GC medal, (17.5 years of undetected crime). |

I see Nancy boy is showing his true colours at last.... Cleggie reveals himself as a tax & spend wally "But Mr Clegg's demands are not just ideologically at odds with the aims of his Coalition partners, they are also economically illiterate. Surprising coming from someone of this stature....Deputy PM "He worked as a business consultant and part-time university lecturer before his election as MP for Sheffield Hallam in 2005" Are those business'es still viable? I see Nancy boy is showing his true colours at last.... Yes, listened to the radio phone-in's this morning regarding this one-off tax on the rich. All I can say is, "Chris, have a word with the party boffins and tell them they got a big thumbs down from Joe public over this". I truly shake my head, "The Lib Dems are fast becoming a yesterdays party". Del boy & Rodney's silliness I've been castigated for rubbishing these 2 plonkers, so will the castigator attend parliament & complain about the following? "For that reason, Tim Yeo’s damaging phrase on these pages on Tuesday may stick. For one of the godfathers of the Tory modernising movement to ask if Mr Cameron is “a man or a mouse†is the equivalent of Lord Mandelson admitting that Tony Blair is fallible. Privately, some other Tory MPs don’t rate their current leader as highly even as a mouse. “I’m afraid people sense he’s not got greatness stamped on him. And now he’s got Boris on his case,†says one. “There is no idea of where we are going,†says another. One young MP is even more bleak. “The guy is finished. Cameron doesn’t know what to do.†I love it when officialdom backs me up! PWDL 8125 |

Another decision by bureaucracy that fails he common sense rule. July 7 survivor faces deportation from Britain A university lecturer injured in the 7/7 bombings faces being expelled from the UK even though he was born to British parents in a British colony. |

Good post as you've highlighted the problems most Civil Servants have to face on a daily basis. Laws, rules & regulations are in place for a specific reason as without them, it would be total chaos. The main problem is that the majority of civil servants do act correctly & go out of their way to assist people with the "correct" advice, however, there are times when they find their decisions overturned by higher ups that just does not make sense. When this happens enough, those servants just end up going with the flow, which only makes matters worse. As for the passport situation, this really does need cleaning up & thoroughly defined. Every member of my family which included my late parents could hold (& do) a British passport, yet I am not, & all because I was born after 1948. Makes one wonder! P WDL 11137 |

Ooops, you missed the point - I was highlighting the stupidity within the system. I do not want or need a British passport - too many restrictions. |

Ok lets try and tweak out the salient facts here. That quote differs from a para further up the page; But as he moves into semi-retirement, he has now been told that he can no longer permanently remain here and can only visit for brief periods as a tourist. The Home Office has also told him that he cannot apply for naturalisation. Having had to deal quite a bit with the civil servants dealing with Births, deaths etc and passports, there are a lot that act very strictly according to rules and regulations. The there are the helpful ones that see that the rules are should not be black and white and seek advice from further up the chain. And ensure common sense prevails. |
