Wow, I don't know why you brought "higher education" into it, but glad you did.

The majority at the top have (I hope) a well educated background & it seems to those not so well educated, that they are taken for fools.

As for your comment about your important post. Yes I genuinely apologise for that. However, without getting an unexpected vacation, I can only say, some people have issues & the moderators had no choice once those issues were raised. Some consistencey would be nice though.

Name calling loses the argument then? Quite definitely!

tell me, why do you vote then? Not sure what that has to do with anything. Just another attempt to divert the point.

Cabinet Ministers/MP's/Snivel Serpents calling each other names as well as the electorate names? I.E., Master "Plebs" Mitchell as the more recent case!

Diverting the point? So called governers doing & it's alright? A "commoner" doing & it upsets the natives!

To paraphrase Hannibal Smith....

"I love it when a barb hits home"!

Ahh I am actually not sure what any of the above means and truly I did feel no barb, I quite honestly have no idea what the "tell me why do you vote then" comment meant.

When the "plebs" row blew up I was 100% in favour of his removal and no it is not "alright" if people at the top revert to swearing or name calling. In my view anyone who cannot hold an intelligent debate without name calling or swearing loses any arguments.

Before you suggest I had a "higher education" I did not, I went to a secondary modern where swearing was the norm. I suppose I did have an excellent english teacher who taught me how to speak and express myself without needing to swear. If I can why can't others?

Sirius

As you might have noticed I no longer post in politics as your constant name calling and pretend swearing just proved to me you weren't worth my time.

Now because of that I have had one of my important posts removed because it quoted one of yours.

To say I am upset is putting it mildly. If a person cannot get their point across without "pretend swearing" or name calling then in my eyes they have lost the argument.

The UK wanted its counterparts to agree to limit their influence in the merged firm in order to maintain BAE's strong working relations with the US Pentagon.

The BBC understands that Germany was fundamentally opposed to the deal. "Once German intransigence became clear - as it did overnight - EADS and BAE had no option but to call the whole thing off,".

The UK has a Special Relationsip with the USA which encompasses trade, military aid, sharing intelligence etc. Germany clearly hasn't, and didn't want to end up the weaker partner suspecting the USA of pulling strings all the time. Their loss.

Looking better.....Nice one HMG!

BaE & EADS merger cancelled

Best news of the week!

Just shows that the ECM does not work all that well. European politics gets in
the way just at a time when you'd think Europe would be clamouring to form
bigger companies capable of taking on the the big-big American ones. I bet Boeing
can't believe their luck here with a possible major threat to their world market
domination crumble in front of them. It's the same old European boggy-man raising
it's head again, "We're worried that America may gain some influence over it".
Well, the UK isn't, it's them others over there who still haven't realised that
WW2 has ended and that the Yanks have gone home now, job well done. So is the
ECM about forming a joint economy that can take on the world or forming a
super state good at pulling faces at or poking tongues out at other super states
say, "What are you going to do about that then"...well I do wonder, for when it
comes down to business then the ECM is a no-hoper.

Damn, do I not like this... :(

UK being tested

"It is not complicated. Hard work, strong families, taking responsibility, serving others."Yep, agree. One problem though, no jobs = no hard work

About firkin time!

"Those people are a real threat to our society, and we must treat them as such." Crapola - Agree again

Force against burgalars allowed

"I think, probably, there's an argument at the moment for making sure that that bar gets higher, and that the homeowner has better protection, and the burglar is put more on notice that they're at risk if they choose to burgle someone's home while they're in it," he added. Not again - Agree

Victims to choose punishment

"We need to give the police the freedom to use their judgement. So we've scrapped all police targets and given them a single objective - to cut crime." About time!

"He said: "Theresa used to lock them up and Ken let them out. Now... Theresa locks them up and Chris throws away the key.""Oh My Giddy Aunt - Smashing Job!

Hey Mister Cameron, keep this up & you get my vote.

However, if all these just turn out to be just political soundbites, then come 2015, the BNP gets my vote!

I agree with most of what you said, but in relation to,

I am sure there are other areas savings can be made, including pensioners (coffin dodgers) who pay the 40% tax rate that can give up the privilege of free winter fuel allowance, free bus passes and free TV licenses.

in a lot of cases, the costs associated with checking each person to see if they are eligible or not are greater than the savings. It also has the effect of penalising those that did the right things in perparing for their later years and rewarding those who spent every penny during their working life.

I regards to pensions etc, I think they should calculate how long they expect to pay these to the average person. And them make the pensionable age = average life span - time on pensions.

There are quite a lot of people now, and even more in the future, will spend more time as a pensioner than they did working.

The other silly recent proposal, is the mansion tax. My maternal grandparents bought a house in 1921 for £420, one of my aunts still lives there, last year the house next door, essentially identical, sold for over £700k. It is in the SE and fairly near a train station with direct trains to Waterloo.

I do hope this planned saving of £20 billion isn't so that the UK government can pass it over to Brussels to help bail out the useless Southern Europeans.

Nick

Like all politicians implementing policy, the home flying chickens are roosting in Lib-Dem-Con territory and not the perps (Labour) who caused all the damage. That's twice in 30 year that light weight Socialist part has damaged the country's economy.

But, practice makes perfect ... at the end of the 1970, when Dennis (the eyebrows) Healey was the Chancellor they damaged the economy badly. This time they nearly bankrupted the UK. Another go and they will succeed in turning us all in to anarchists and survivalists.

Hi John,

Yes, you know it and I know it but do most of the electorate know this too.
Unfortunately it has all landed in the laps of the Con/Lib's to sort out.
The way forwards for the coalition to my mind is to tell the ECM that we're
not going to be signatories to any new treaties as we have enough problems at
home to deal with. Plus as regards getting any more money out of us then the
answer is no because we haven't got any to spare at the moment. So make do
with what you've got else cut back like we are trying to do. I do hope this
planned saving of £20 billion isn't so that the UK government can pass it
over to Brussels to help bail out the useless Southern Europeans. If they do
then the government needs to be given a Kenyan handshake, using a pair of
scissors.....see colonialism thread for the meaning behind this latter remark.

@John & Nick

Labour cannot be trusted ever again to be allowed to run our country. Nor can the Conservatives on their own either. There is only one sensible way forward and that is for the Lib Dems to be used as a parliamentary policeman to curb their worst excesses. A coalition by definition is a second rate compromise, but better that than another 10 years of Tony Blair or equivalent.

The public have a choice on 7th May 2015, I hope it will be a coalition of the Lib Dems between either Labour or the Conservatives. If not, gawd help us all ....

The problem today arises from those proliferate years where exercising
socialistic policies permitted governments to direct revenues to the
cause of buying votes. Had this not been the case then this miss-spent money
could have been invested into the framework, infrastructure, industries of
Great Britain so making us as competitive as Germany.....The chickens have come
home to roost and for some it is going to be painful. How much have we wasted
on this social spending, God knows, but we gave far too much away too easily and
to too many who really did not need or deserve it.
