Yes. Sad.

According to Yahoo.

Make a comment about it and it soon is forgotten.

Its time for the Americans to reform their gun laws. If you allow everybody in civilian society to carry guns, then you will have war in the civilian community.

Good luck getting anything past the gun nuts...err NRA or the conservatives that are supported by them.

Honestly, we sell guns to anyone. Perhaps forcing people into seminars and training could weed out a few that appear a bit loco. Or even a psych eval before a purchase.

It's pretty clear that its so easy to buy guns and ship them to Mexico that any nut in the US could easily obtain a gun and fire at will in multiple theaters if they wanted.

Oh and about concealed handgun laws. How about NO!!!! One thing we just don't need is a crapload of vigilantes running around. And BTW you can't take that concealed gun into virtually any establishment. Meaning you get to leave it in your (most likely) truck when you go ino the 7-11, the Dr's office, a movie, grocery shopping, a restaurant, or even get your hair cut. It seems that this law is a pointless effort by gun nuts to be able to brandish weapons in public an nothing more.

This current incident is just another episode of BUT I HAVE MY SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS. Screw that. Amendments have been repealed perhaps its about time we get rid if this one

Crazy people will do crazy things. If it wasn't a gun, it would be other ways to get the job done.

The answer isn't more laws or gun control, the answer is trying to identify these people before the fly off the handle and get them the help they need.

Regarding concealed carry (we also have that in Arizona -- state legislators have tried to expand legal concealed carry to allow folks to bring these onto school campus as well) -- while it is not 'legal' in many places, if your intent is to do real damage without concern for consequences - legal or not doesn't matter). I suspect concealed carry to a movie theater isn't legal in Colorado.

For that matter, if you can purchase a gun, and don't care, you can conceal carry it anywhere.

And no, while there will be an outcry about gun control -- nothing will happen.

+1.

Most states with conceal and carry laws are very very strict. I live in one of the bluest states in this country, and conceal and carry is allowed with a permit.

Go after the offender, not guns.

I can't find the report but apparently when Mom was told, she said you have the right person. So someone knew he was a fruitcake. Now the real headline should be why was a known fruitcake out on the street. Why aren't shrinks required to report fruitcakes to the ATF so they can't buy guns? A gun isn't the problem, a fruitcake on the loose is the problem.

I'd rather pay tax dollars to put a fruitcake in a rubber room than a bunch of medical trauma bills. This is the real issue America won't deal with. Fruitcakes have the right to wander around untreated; time bombs waiting to go off.

Now as to a concealed firearm, last time I checked it was rather hard to conceal a shotgun and a rifle. Never mind body armor, gas mask and chemical weapons. We are just really lucky it was tear gas and not nerve gas. The guy had the schooling to make nerve gas if the reports are right. Reports were he was openly carrying.

A fruitcake on the loose is the problem here.

And yes I'm mad. Mad at feel goods who think fruitcake rights are more important than public safety.

Focus. A fruitcake on the loose is the problem here.

John.

There's absolute ignorance talking. Gun laws do absolutely nothing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals who really want them. I doubt the gunman had a permit for his AR-15. Nor did he have permits to boobytrap his apartment with explosives. And you think some words added to the criminal code would've have stopped this? Absolute ignorance. Evil is evil and this guy is it. I hope Colorado has the death penalty.

Police said they recovered a Glock pistol, one Remington shotgun, and one Smith and Wesson AR-15 Type assault weapon in the theater. They found another Glock pistol in the suspect’s car, Oates said.

He was wearing full body armor.

I am guessing that he was able to gain entrance because folks thought he was part of the premier showing effects.

Note, there is apparently no medical history to indicate this guy was going to do this sort of thing.

In order to show I'm here for the genuine exchange of information in the hopes of enlightening us all I must thank you Ex, Gary and misfit for pointing to what the real issue is. Unfortunately, there will always be some one who smokes "bath salts" and does something absolutely insane.

What? No kudos for the "guy with no name and currently no afterlife"? I feel left out being that I was the first one to say that guns aren't the problem.

Apparently, you are not familiar with the concealed carry laws here in Texas.

I am.

I have a card that you can only get after being finger printed, being photographed, being back ground checked, and taking 8 hours of classroom training.

True, you cannot carry a concealed gun into some areas. Most placed you can, though.

Good luck getting anything past the gun nuts...err NRA or the conservatives that are supported by them.

I am very familiar with the law and nothing you said differs with what I said. Any fool can sit through a whole 8 hours of training and still be nuts.

I'd find it difficult to go anywhere where you could actually carry a concealed weapon in Texas. No hospital, clinic, Mall, gov't office(local state and federal), most if not all restaurants, convenience stores, super markets, department stores, gas stations all have signs posted that concealed weapons are not allowed on the premises. Doing so will get you arrested. Seems you'd actually have to search for a place that you could wear a concealed weapon other than a shooting range, your residence, your vehicle, or your local militia barracks/End of the world cult compound.

In the off chance you find a place mentioned above that doesn't have the placard then the facility is either new and/or has neglected to post their sign in a timely manner
