The Tar Sands (Oil sands) are huge, almost two percent the size of the whole province. (About as big as South Dakota) I am always surprised that our American neighbours would expect us to want to take on your commitments around the world. You may be surprised to find out that we don’t want to be the world’s policemen, If you sat back for a moment you might realize it is better to get along rather than spend your time pushing people around. Other countries have tried this pushy approach in the past, look at where they are now. Remember Wealth as always better than money. |

2 years ago Washington Post article noted that canada became largest oil supplier to america. So that translates they have some historic lucky chance to suck huge cash. What now canadian tar sand oil reserve is even bigger than saudi arabia?! But that tar sand oil industry was hugely destroying their local nature which the corporate medias were effectively covering up. Maybe if Mit Romney becomes the president he might invade canada for all republican doctrine sake. Mandtugai! |

Canada already has Navy ships in the Middle East on pirate patrol; through CIDA (The Canadian international development agency) we send money, food, technology, and teachers all over the world. As far as Korea is concerned it was Canadian troops, and Navel unites that were in the fight almost from the beginning. I agree with you that your country is far richer than mine; it is just that here the money is spread around a little better, and we don’t have ninety percent of the money in the hands of only one percent of the people. However when it comes to wealth...... I best stop now. |

Things like feeding half of the world, fighting piracy on the high seas and keeping countries like South Korea from being over run. I'm sure that you or others can put a different spin on my examples, but I don't believe Canada is richer than the USA anyway. The Economist this week, in a largely upbeat article about the US economy, noted that houses in the US are (by its studies) currently undervalued by 15% to 20% -- it is possible that this may change over the next couple of years. I sort of hope so -- but not, please God, via a bubble. |

Good, if Canadians and by extension Canada is richer than the USA then they can take over all the tasks that are banrupting the USA or at least take on a larger share of the load. The author of that article is using a misleading term. When they say "household", it typically refers to the income of the family, but in reading the article, it seems they're actually referring to home values, which is largely not the same as income. So, if home values are higher than Americans, how does that translate into Canadians are "richer" than Americans if they are unable to afford their housing any better than we are? (actual question, I don't know if they can or not) |

The average Canadian household is worth about $40,000 more than their American counterparts.. News article Maybe there will be an influx of US citizens "illegally" moving north. me@rescam.org |
