I've already stumped nearly half the regular guessers in the Mystery Kitchen Tool contest, and it is only a matter of time before I stump the rest. When I first moved into my home some 32 years ago and had no appliances yet, I used my electric drill with a bicycle spoke chucked into it and bent so I could use it as a mixer....... But guys .... You need to spend more time in cooking supply shops. I have seen many "common place" items there, labelled for a specific kitchen use, and the price increased accordingly. I will give Angela a chance to prove this was at least sold as a kitchen tool - even if I could use it to improve tire traction on my snow blower. BTW, I have used kitchen tools in the workshop many times (don't tell my wife!) but that doesn't disqualify them as kitchen tools. |

The dog chains were not sold as kitchen tools. I purchased them in the pet aisle of our local supermarket. But I do use them exclusively in my kitchen and they are permanently stored in my kitchen with my pastry baking equipment. When I posted those pictures I was thinking that something that I use exclusively for cooking is a "cooking tool", and thereby permissible. If I have violated the rules, I apologize. If the majority feel that picture should not have counted, I will be very careful in the future to stick to more traditional kitchen devices. |

Sniff times four or five. Life got in the way. Of course I knew the chain thing and the other antiques @ Sten-Arne, the point is to stump us. Then post hints. I know you say you are old and crumpy, but I am not sure, that is true. Thank you Carlos, I love this thread, just wish, you would be here more. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Whew! I see the dust is settling now in the cooking thread. Carlos, thank you for your operational definition. You people take your cooking tools very seriously!!! I am sorry about the dog chains. I really do use them exclusively for cooking, but the nay-sayers are correct - they are not sold as cooking tools. So, just to clarify, food service items are a "no - no" too? A weird fish fork or something would be out? I did not see a line about food service utensils in Carlos' definition. |

Whew! I see the dust is settling now in the cooking thread. Carlos, thank you for your operational definition. You people take your cooking tools very seriously!!! A kitchen tool is a tool made for use in the preparation or service of food I did. I just saw your caption. You win. |

Thank you for the clarification and thank you for the "win". It is Monday, however, who gets to make that call... |

Explanation please. Why would anyone want to "core" a grapefruit? |

Explanation please. It makes it easier to get the chain around it. |

Now this is getting extremely weird. Why should a fish fork even if strange be excluded? It belongs in the kitchen and is related to food. My bad. Service utensils ARE allowed, per Carlos' operational definition. Sten-Arne, what is the adult beverage of choice in your country? Whatever it is, please uncork a bottle and enjoy a little nip. May the spirit of fun be with you, my friend. |

I agree with Angela's agreement with me. A fork is tool to serve food. Pass the bottle.... which can also be found in the kitchen and used to both serve and store food. Store? Should I have included store food? Yes I think it belongs. So tool made to prepare, served or store food. Any more? |

Since this is the off topic season until Eric get's around to post a pic. I think there is a book in the Guestroom about flying pigs. I know there is one about Donkeys. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

She always get's her way, doesn't she? Ouch Uli-belle. I hope that was your caption and not a slam! |

A caption Ang. He just beat me too it, so I had to do some cleanup. Can't comment when a game is in progress. Are we a bit touchy tonight? Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

A caption Ang. He just beat me too it, so I had to do some cleanup. Can't comment when a game is in progress. It is always more challenging to interpret intent on-line. Eric and I both interpreted your post as "snarky", and it would seem we both misunderstood you. |
