Copy the folder back before you re-install BOINC. Otherwise, you are good to go. SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

I believe you also need to use the same COMPUTER NAME if you want it to count towards your existing computer id |

I believe you also need to use the same COMPUTER NAME if you want it to count towards your existing computer id The computer name is irreverent. BOINC will update the new machine name on the server the next time it calls home. How about Linux version? Copy BOINC-directory to new installation /home/username/BOINC and install Boinc over that or first install Boinc and copy over? I'd like to test several Linux distributions and keep cache reasonable big. -Kimmo- Computers: obelix |

How about Linux version? Copy BOINC-directory to new installation /home/username/BOINC and install Boinc over that or first install Boinc and copy over? You should never try for a large cache when testing. If your test fails that cache will have to time out then be downloaded to someone new. How about Linux version? Copy BOINC-directory to new installation /home/username/BOINC and install Boinc over that or first install Boinc and copy over? I've upgraded/changed Linux distros various times with the same Boinc installation and picked up fine from where it left off. Keeping a minimum sized cache is good advice. Also, you need to keep with all-32bit or all-64bit. Otherwise you will pick up a different Boinc-client that then drops the contents of your cache. If you have 64-bit hardware, then you are best with 64-bit software. Good luck, Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |
