So how do you practically enforce an age limit? There is nothing to stop an 8 year old getting a Seti account if they want to and start posting. If you are asked about your age you lie, there is no proof required. As there isn't on getting an email account or viewing alcohol sites. They cover themselves by asking your age and provided you say over 16 or 18, they take your word for it

To have a special thread restricted to over 25's with logins and passwords would be a nightmare to manage and administrate, and take up valuable project resources to do so. And how many people would want it out of 152,925 active users, a dozen? This a scientific project with general boards and forums as a thank you to crunchers for their donated time, and needs moderating enough as it already is, without any extra load.

If people here feel strongly enough that they want to discuss this subject in greater depth, there are other dedicated websites out there to do that. And there is no reason why anyone here should not set up their own website and invite like minded people to join them.
