Thanks Sten ,but I don't understand all that stuff :( If I can't just press a button and go,(in life as well as computing), i'm just stuck till something else happens and I can move along :) john3760 EDIT: Looks like somebody has given the server a proper boot :) You see.If you just sit back, somebody else will get you going again ;) (A big THANKYOU to whoever is working at berkley today !!) ![]() |

I had an astropulse download pretty quick today, over 90 kbs with no back off. What's up? :) ![]() Member of the People Encouraging Niceness In Society club. ![]() |

Scheduler's is still a bit iffy. Some requests time out but most get a reply eventually. But whatever they did sorted out the download problem- they're coming along nicely, no more instant timeouts. EDIT- The Scheduler's definately got it's panties in a twist. More & more requests are timing out. Grant Darwin NT |

Good or Bad Friday? In any way a Friday, in the morning we're out of work, due to those time-outs. Oh well, time to fire up Primegrid. ;-) |

Egads, what now??? My top rig has been unable to complete a scheduler request for almost an hour. It makes the request, contacts the server, but the server never answers back. I can see in my task list it is issuing new tasks, but never completes the request so they can be downloaded. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

I'm getting responses to about 1 in 5 requests. And mostly it's to re-issue lost tasks from previous failed requests. Grant Darwin NT |

I can't say that I'm having any problems here other than the constantly repeated "reached a limit on tasks in progress". :( Cheers. |

The same here, except it is about 1 in 3 request. That's OK, I am still getting work to do. http://boincstats.com/signature/-1/user/18390/sig.png |

I'm getting a little bit. Not a whole lot, but for a few minutes a little while ago, just about every work request was giving me 1 AP. Now it's been an hour or so and I haven't gotten any more. Scheduler contact takes about 30-45 seconds, and the downloads (using .13) start running the first try and go 20-50KB/sec. It does seem to have loosened up a bit. Most scheduler request are going through now. The kitties breath a sigh of relief. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

12 hours since anyone had a panic attack. That can't be right, it just has to be something to panic about. :-) No panic! Murphy's law has become true! |

12 hours since anyone had a panic attack. That can't be right, it just has to be something to panic about. :-) Ah. But. As soon as Murphy`s law come`s true it sue`s itself in court for more than it was ever worth and does something totaly unpredictable, which is in it`s self predictable, though that outcome is also impossible to predict. I think i had better go and have forty winks to recover from that bit of quantum theory. |

12 hours since anyone had a panic attack. That can't be right, it just has to be something to panic about. :-) How about having to hit update 7 time in order to force a contact with the server.. No panic as such, just extremely jarred off with this perpetual comms snafu.. Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! ![]() |

Cliff Try downgrading to 6.10.60 to avoid th 6.12.xx backoffs. Made a massive world of difference this end. Suddenly it's like the olde dayse! |

Cliff I think I'll wait it out:-) After all its v7 next is'nt it? Then its lunatics kit and the fun and games start again:-) The backoffs believe it or not, are not the problem so much as the very patchy comms between boinc and its home turf.. Backoffs are cured by highlighting the entire download queue and then hitting retry whenever 1 of them stalls.. The 1st backoff makes it easy to gather the lot and hammer the d/l until all are in. So far today I've had about 3 WU stall.. no more but failed updates are another story.. But if I repeatedly hit update, when boinc times out the first time, then by update hit 3 or 4 or 7 its in contact and the d/l proceeds smoothly. If I'm asleep then Ray's SIV will handle the backoffs, more slowly then me, but it gets it done. Cheers, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! ![]() |

12 hours since anyone had a panic attack. That can't be right, it just has to be something to panic about. :-) A lightbulb blew earlier, AND I DON'T HAVE A SPARE! :) Other than that I'm still waiting for my astropulse times to get down to what they actually are. At the moment they're at 197hrs :) ![]() Member of the People Encouraging Niceness In Society club. ![]() |
