Message 1221798 - Posted: 22 Apr 2012, 20:24:11 UTC - in response to Message 1221749.

Some people seem to not understand the USDA. Their only concern is if it is safe, not if it is pretty or good for you. If they cared about good for you the high salt, high fat, high sugar crap wouldn't be for sale. If they cared about pretty why would they have all those grades for beef? Heck, they should ban prime meat as having too much fat content.

I do not think it is too much to ask that they ensure I do not have a massive science experiment masquerading as meat.

The science experiment ended some time ago. No issues were found or it would not have been approved. If you have an issue with the methodology, then publish a paper and call it into question.

The experiment is still in progress. We are the guinea pigs. And they do not want to hear a peep out of us.

How many humans must consume it with out ill effects before you are happy? Every person on the planet?

By your standards bees, peanuts, strawberries and shellfish need to be banned because some people are allergic.

Just admit it, you don't like it because of how it is made, not because it isn't safe.

What happened to the capitalist nature.. the laws of supply and demand?

How can we make choices when we are not allowed to know what we are buying?
How can we say no to GMO's if we are not told if a cow is genetically engineered? Is that tomato part frog DNA as well? Is that "beef" I am buying
really a lab experiment grown as a culture? How many anti-biotics am I being fed, and how do I know if I am setting off an allergic reaction, or consuming anti-biotic resistant bacteria from the floors of a slaughterhouse?

Enough of the "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" routine.
If they did not have things to hide, they would not be trying so hard to hide it.

Again.. these are just the tip of the iceburg, and what happens when big business seeks de-regulation, and buys(or rents, much cheaper) politicians.
If people do not know, they can not object. It is a sad state of affairs
and the last semblence of a government 'by the people'.

By my standards, peanuts need to be labeled "peanuts". Shellfish needs to be labeled "shellfish". Genetically engineered peanuts need to be labeled "GMO peanuts". or GMO peanuts with pesticide residue if appropriate.

Is that so difficult?

All this because the planet is becoming more populated than the food producers
can provide for using current farming and crop growing technics.
The only solution is to limit the level of population or else GMO foods might start to
turn us into GMO humans beings. This might sound silly but you just don't know
what GMO foods could do to us over time. Play around with our bodies when we're
sick and stuff us full of chemicals that you think may help us. But with our food
then just leave it alone. So if we can't produce enough food to feed the
world then be safe and start to regulate the level of the world's population
to a level that can be sustained by conventional farming practices.

as noted in another thread, Crops have been genetically modified for decades. Most crop seeds have a kill switch installed so farmers can't just replant last years crop. The kill switch causes defects in the Plant DNA that does anything from making the seed sterile or grow but be stunted and malformed. We've been eating these crops for decades and so far that kill switch hasn't done any harm to us.

BINGO and maybe the CO2 levels will come down too.

Identify the problem, then you can formulate the solution.

Gary, stop being so practical. Why make life so simple, you'll end up making
our politicians redundant if you do...ho-ho.

Has your wife tried goats milk products?

Yes. This was surprising to her GP, so she booked her into the hospital for further tests. They tried goats milk & immediately stopped as they got the same reaction.

They call her in every 3 months or so for tests. However, with what has been happening over the last 3 months or so, has made me keep a close eye on this thread.

Without touching any dairy product & just the foodstuffs she can eat, she has been violently ill several times in that period. Since it was reported to the GP & hospital, I have to log all foodstuffs she eats.

Does seem then that it's more than just lactose that causing the problem..

My thoughts exactly, but her GP doesn't agree. I've spoken to her father who has suggested she change her GP, & I have to agree with him.

Finding this really worrisome atm.

There must be an organisation somewhere who you can contact that deals with lactose intolerance.
