Well after this release I must say I am very disappointed. Why on earth are there no Nvidia GPU Astropulse included like we were promised. I am not going to sit here and Crunch Astropulse on a cpu at 12 hours a pop when I could do 12 of those same WU on GPU Why just ATI. Lame in my book. Nvidia is NUMBER ONE in crunching so why do we have to put up with this crap This wait for installer 40 was a fruitless wait Very pissed off cruncher |

I'd like to propose a vote of thanks to Richard Hasselgrove, LadyL and others who have worked so damn hard, and under a lot of pressure, to get this latest installer out. +2 |

So to be clear, the installer still doesn't have the nVidia OpenCL AP app, only the ATI OpenCL AP app? Timescale? Cheers, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

So to be clear, the installer still doesn't have the nVidia OpenCL AP app, only the ATI OpenCL AP app? Any Idea if the nVidia version will be available soon? or the public beta? I want to know to avoid the all the hassle of editing several app_info's now and then again in a few days/weeks... |

The astropulse app is OpenCL and to be honest Nvidia is a little behind ATI with OpenCL. There are a few issues like the 100% CPU bug which have to be solved. AMD/ATI had the same bug last year but could fix it. Raistmer is working on a fix as well. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I've updated my 3 now but other than my Vista POS, which I had to run the installer twice on and trashing several tasks in the process, things went well. Now to just wait and see the results (especially keen to see what the 2500K will do now with AP's). Cheers. |

I got lost on what pluses we're up to, so I'll just say, thank you all very much. Member of the People Encouraging Niceness In Society club. |

Well, thanks guys - I didn't expect that, but it was greatly appreciated. Dude and Dudette just drive the parcel van, and throw the goodies out the back. The real heavy lifting is done in the back rooms at Luna HQ - let's have a shout out for them too. |

Cool. Mine's working. I had two APs that downloaded and ran about 10 minutes with stock. Suspend comms, NNT, Shut BOINC down, put in r557 SSE2 exe, created my super-basic app_info, copied the two APs to somewhere else, started BOINC back up, hit 'reset project' then copied the two WUs back, allowed new tasks and allowed comms. Had a 0.25-day cache set previously, so only one got re-sent so far due to the 209-hour ETA. Changed to a 10-day cache, and the other got re-sent as well. Both of those WUs got "re-branded" on the tasks page on the website here, so it looks good to go. Yeah, sorry. I'm a bit old-fashioned. I like just putting the one file in place and doing the 17-line app_info by hand. 2012-03-26 22:36:36|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Well I installed 40 and then reinstalled My old customized app info file(for a 64bit app and only for a 64bit app) as the app I am using didn't have a name change, but 40 seems to agree with the 590, Thanks. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

The astropulse app is OpenCL and to be honest Nvidia is a little behind ATI with OpenCL. CUDA is NVidia's programming model, OpenCL is AMD/ATIs. Not surprisingly, NVidia spend most of their time developing their model. Grant Darwin NT |

The astropulse app is OpenCL and to be honest Nvidia is a little behind ATI with OpenCL. Not quite, AMD/ATI used CAL for a long time and it worked great on several projects. They are in the process of phasing it out though and will be going to OpenCL only with the next SDK. |

The astropulse app is OpenCL and to be honest Nvidia is a little behind ATI with OpenCL. OpenCL is a creation of Khronos Group which was put together by a bunch of companies, including both ATI and nVidia, and many others. http://www.khronos.org/about/ |
