My APv6.0 units run time in 160 hours (est) at first. Then even before it started running the first new APv6.0 an ajustment happened run time 26 hours(est). That's a very interesting post - many thanks for passing on the observation. It prompted me to trigger a resend on a test machine: 14-Mar-2012 00:40:43 [SETI@home] [sched_op] estimated total CPU task duration: 774936 seconds 21-Mar-2012 14:32:11 [SETI@home] [sched_op] estimated total CPU task duration: 125990 seconds for the same task, (re-)allocated under the same conditions. I'd be interested to know what changed. |

My APv6.0 units run time in 160 hours (est) at first. Then even before it started running the first new APv6.0 an ajustment happened run time 26 hours(est). For stock applications, the Scheduler does an approximation of projected flops at about line 370 in sched_version.cpp which causes that early adjustment. Note that since the projected flops is sent to the client as <flops> for the app_version, it immediately affects all tasks assigned to be done with that app_version. Joe |

The astropulse tasks are no joke. ( 40-50 hours) Compared to the regular 2 hour projects. Although, bring them on. |

No they're no joke but with the old v505 my 2500K @ stock chews through them in around 6.5hrs. :D I'm patiently waiting for the new Lunatics installer to find out how it handles v6. Cheers. |

I'm patiently waiting for the new Lunatics installer to find out how it handles v6. Still waiting for David to explain why he asked Eric to withdraw his approval, I'm afraid. |

I'm patiently waiting for the new Lunatics installer to find out how it handles v6. Yes. Which is why the entire conversation was conducted by email. For example: From: "David Anderson" (other addressees redacted) |

The astropulse tasks are no joke. ( 40-50 hours) Compared to the regular 2 hour projects. Although, bring them on. Back in 1999 we were aiming at 150 hours for the jobs that now take 2 (and do more processing.) When we were starting to do Astropulse, we were aiming for jobs taking a month. Gotta love that Moore's Law. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |

Yeah, I'm still trying to dig up the symptoms for the zero credit bit. I think it was a bad BOINC client version requesting 0 credit for anonymous platform (which always comes in as the low bidder, and so the wingman gets 0 credit, too). But it's possible that it's in the validator somewhere, too. So I'll dig a bit more over the weekend. Regarding the MacOS version, I have a working powerpc version, but I've run into some snags with the x86 version. I can't even test the powerpc version in beta because people with MacOS 10.5 x86 and earlier will get the powerpc version and will run it in powerpc emulation. The would be bad. I have to release the x86 version first and then I can release powerpc when the correction factors start being applicable. Then there's GPU versions, but there's only so many hours in the day. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |

well, I have at SETI@Beta somewhere after Feb 5'th the tasks started to validate. Before that they validated at random. I was at the time running ATI ap app .534 .539 .540 and was using BM 7.x.11/12 at the time. I can't from where I sit see any logic in the 0credit validation. TRuEQ & TuVaLu |

The MacOS versions are in beta. We don't have a huge number of Macs attached there, so Mac users are encouraged to join. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |

I am attached their and will get work as I find it. I only have a C2D so it won't be a lot or fast but I will switch to asking for Astropulse on Beta. Edit I know I asked for Astropulse on OSX so I have switched to only ask for the new version of Astropulse on Beta to help test faster. Thank you for your time and effort supporting OSX. I have 10 projects on my little machine so my RAC on SETI Beta is not the highest but you got it all to test the betas. |

Unfortunately it is not possible to switch to only asking for Astropulse v6 work at Beta. You have to check the "accept work from other applications" option. The good news is that when there are AP v6 tasks available, you'll get some even though there are 170000 SaH v7 tasks also ready to send. Eric, might it be possible to get the selection updated during the Tuesday outage? Joe |

Yeah I have Astropulse only check but ended up with a V7 MB instead. so looks like the first one I could run is in a day or 2 depending how work requests work out. I never kill a WU that I am given so looks like I'm out for a while. |

Feel free to abort v7 workunits after the outage tomorrow. I'll try to get the app selection fixed tomorrow during the outage. Before then, if you unselect S@Hv7 and all the astropulse versions, but check allow other apps, you should get APv6 work. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |
