dsh, can you post the Boinc startup messages from that host please, the first 20 to 30 lines will do,

Claggy

Here you go.

01-Apr-2012 12:12:59 [---] Data directory: /usr/sbin/BOINC

O.K, i just wanted to make sure you had the right directory for the app_info.xml and apps, it should be something like /usr/sbin/BOINC/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/

Claggy

That is exactly where it is.

Actually app_info.xml is in /usr/sbin/BOINC and the apps and work units are in
/usr/sbin/BOINC/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/. Is that what you meant?

/usr/sbin ? That's way wrong. Nothing from BOINC should be there. It is a location for root user/system-only executables.
You should move boinc to something like /var/boinc
And app_info.xml should also be in projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/

No, the app_info.xml should be in the setiathome project folder, not the Boinc Data directory, since the app_info is for a particular project.

I can certainly try moving it to /usr/bin, but would that help the

"Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of AstroPulse v6"

problem?

Well, that could certainly explain the problem. I will move it and restart boinc and will let you know how it works out.

Get the correct app_info.xml into the project directory (setiathome.berkeley.edu) since that's the only place BOINC will look for project information. There must be a different one there without the AP v6 entries.

01-Apr-2012 12:12:59 [---] Libraries: libcurl/7.21.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8n zlib/1.2.5 libidn/1.22

While not related to the APv6 problem you were having, I would try to keep these libraries up to date. Recent updates fix many security issues and bugs.

libcurl 7.25.0 http://curl.haxx.se/
OpenSSL 1.0.1 http://openssl.org/
zlib 1.2.6 http://zlib.net/
libidn 1.24 http://www.gnu.org/software/libidn/

I retract this advice. It seems one or more of the interface API's may have changed between versions. I just tried to update libcurl on one of my own systems and BOINC won't start now, so leave it for the devs.

Thanks for the information. I checked slackware-current and curl is still being shown as version 7.21.4. Pat is generally pretty good about staying current while keeping everything stable. Perhaps he realized 7.25.0 was not quite ready for prime time and that is why it has not been updated. I will check on the others. Thanks again.
