Oh sorry, if he's not a member of the BOINC group, does BOINC actually run if he logs in? I don't believe it does?

It does with a service install - in fact, it runs even before anybody logs in.

But I'd like to know - what did this user say, when the OP asked why he was shutting it down so brutally every time?

And it also seems like, he/she is running an older version of optimized app.'s
, since I don't see the xxxx_vb2 addition?!

When I start WIN XP (x86 or x64), BOINC runs and is only visible on the right part of the task bar. (Or you have to remove it from the start-up
group and start it manually).

Right mouse click gives the possebillity to open the BOINC manager.
And the computers are still invisible, as Richard stated, you should run BOINC
on your own computers or have permission todo so as there have been too many
occasions of running BOINC without permission with serious consequences as
getting fired, etc.

Also auf deutsch.

VISTA?
.[Translated]: A pitty, you still have your computers invisible so no one
can have a look and even see which WINDOWS version, you are using.
F.i. WIN 7 or VISTA?

Forgive me, not translating this in French and Spanish, even my keyboard switched to a different language, so a smiley misses.......

I can only say, be very carefull changing access rights of map´s, Harddisk, or you re entire computer!
Or creating a Virtual Machine.

I encountered too much problems in doing so!
My WIN 7 (x64 SP1), was hacked, several times.........

Translating:

The user is a normal user. I kicked him out of all 'administrative' groups. Now I'm only starting boinc.exe as an admin via a script. If he looks into the taskmanager he'll be able to see the programs, but lacks the rights to kill them. Since he already triggered virus alerts a few times, he won't dare to speak up.

@Fred he probably has a reason to hide his computers and we don't need that information.

Well, glad that your solution works for you.
