Cricket looks pretty smooth, I hope someones looking out for a yellow thing:-) You know, I was going to mention something about 16 hours ago about that, with just a simple.. "QUACK!" But I got side-tracked and forgot. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

That was a pretty swift transition from work becoming unavailable to the cricket graph dropping -- can't have been much of a backlog of unclaimed work (I did notice earlier that I downloaded ten new WUs in 14 seconds, at rates of 35 KB/s or more, so I guess the pipes weren't completely clogged). |

Hi, On reflection, what I'd 'really' like to see is some code to force Boinc to do a server update at least once per week, just to report in and say its still working. That way if some volunteer has just decided to pack it in and dumped Boinc and all WU's, it would let the servers know that user was offline.. Miss 2 weekly reports and all assigned WU get reassigned to wingmen that exist:-) Before the tasks page was shut down I had some wingmen who hadnt been seen for over a month, others like Syracuse obviously had some sort of problem as they were'nt returning WU either.. and they have several of my completed WU in progress:-( Hell if a system/user normally contacts the server on a 1/2/3 day rota, why isnt it picked up when they are AWOL for 30 days plus, and flagged as a potential problem. Perhaps an auto generated email to such systems asking what the problem is and when it might be cured would let s@h know if the outage was going to be of such a duration as to require a retasking of held WU. As it stands one can wait 'forever' for wingmen who have bitten the dust before the WU time out and get re-assigned.. Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

In terms of the Science does it really matter if you need to wait several weeks to get credited? Sure I would like not to have to wait but I get plenty of credits anyway. I suspect the guys who process less notice having to wait far more. I feel it would be sensible to have a regime that gave WUs to pairs of systems with similar turnaround times as this would mean less WUs in the results awaiting validation state and reduce the amount of waiting for slower wingmen. |

But I do find it a pain in the rear end finding that I still have WU awating validation dating back to the 12 feb by users who havent been seen since. I dont do too badly... I think the reason you aren't doing too badly is 6 cores and 2x560s;) With that kind of throughput, I'm guessing no amount of voodoo from a handful of setifolk is gonna help with your pendings. |

Sheesh:-) Thats a wee bit incorrect.. at least as far as it goes.. I've got 2 rigs working:-) And I dont need any voodoo, just that defunct users are noted as such, and their WU re-assigned Simples:-) Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

Hmmmmm... See we had a couple of bumps in the road last night, eh? On to the outage, then. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

And I dont need any voodoo, just that defunct users are noted as such, and their WU re-assigned That is one of the reasons why each workunit has a report deadline. Just be patient grasshopper. ;) Cheers. |
